TRtrumpet Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 So how'd everyone do? I missed it by one chair. FML Got beat out by some dude from Fredricksburg or something like that. Quote
whitewing09 Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 They beat us out of state for marching lol Quote
lhstrumpet Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 (edited) 23 / 40 in trumpet room. First time going, and I'm a sophomore, so it's all good. And plus, Area D was kind of (meaning very) tough. Edited January 13, 2009 by lhstrumpet Quote
the terminator Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 this is our 3rd year, and we got our first two. a sophomore oboe, and a junior trumpet who played with blue knights this year Quote
titancoaster Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 our first year in 5A we have one All-Stater (a Bass Trombone) I ended up 13th out of forty, not All-state but I have no regrets about how i prepared or how i performed Quote
ftwdrummer Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 For the first time ever, Paschal has TWO All-Staters simultaneously: a senior French horn player (the soloist in our show this past year, and an All-Stater last year), and a junior bass trombone. I...didn't go to Area. Didn't make it to Phase II at Region, actually (missed by one spot =/). Quote
Fata1 Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 (edited) I got 7th out of 15 and missed state by five chairs. It's four chairs better than my placement last year so I was happy about the improvement. Overall, our school did really well. We got six students in the 4A All-State band and three students in the 5A All-State band. We almost doubled our record from last year. We also had around four kids miss it by one chair. eNVy Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 We had 3 make state this year for our first year in 5a All got first chair in their room. Sophomore Trumpet (he's been playing as long as college sophomores so he's quite experienced... ) Sophomore Tenor Sax Senior Eb Clarinet We also had a junior tuba that missed it by one . i felt so bad for him..... but hey 3 for our first 5a year is pretty good. borchnork Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I'm not sure Centennial's numbers... but I know they had 1 Senior Trombone player make it, and we had at least 2 kids miss it by 1. Quote
TRtrumpet Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 (edited) Missing it by one is seriously the worst feeling ever. Especially when you it's your senior year and you missed it by one the year before too. I actually cried. Edited January 13, 2009 by TRtrumpet Quote

Still, though, coming that close may not be what you wanted but it's very respectable. Quote
JustAddWat3r Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Man i was one chair away too! The worst part for me is knowing that i could've done better. Quote
TRtrumpet Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 Exactly ^ According to my director, the difference between me and who made it was 2 points :/ And thank you Fata1 Quote
rpd Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 (edited) I kind of know how you feel. I was very close to making region, which isn't big, but I thought would have been a huge success considering I've been playing the sax for 4 months at the time. My stubborn attitude just wanted a challenge. I think I could have made area with a quarter of the time I put in if I had stayed on the Bass Clarinet. After region my band director, who judged all the low clarinets, told me I should have stayed on Bass Clarinet, and that I would have been 1st chair barring any disasters. Oh well, you win some and you lose some. I became a much better Sax player through the etudes, so I have no regrets. But hey, there's still TSSEC lol. I only have about a half a page to go to memorize. Three people represented Marshall this year, however none made state. Not bad considering we've had one person make Area the previous three years. drippin_tuba2010 Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Drip sent 7 people to Area this year. We had none make it. A tenor trombone and a euphonium recorded, but both missed it. A trumpet missed it by 1 spot. I got 5th out of 8 in the tuba room but I'd been sick for 3 days and still couldn't breathe going into the room. Still got next year. Quote
borchnork Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 okay, found out Centennial sent 2 to state this year. Trombone and an eflat clarinet. from my understanding the Eflat Clarinet player actually made 1st in state. =] Quote
clarinethero Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Hebron send 7 to area and 5 of them going to state. Quote

Hebron sent 9 to Area and I think 7 of them going to State. But the good news is that all our Clarinets(5) made State. with 1 of our Trumpet and Saxophone. I don't know about French Horn and Tenor Trombone. Quote
JediSaxSolis Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I got 4th out of 8 on 5A Tenor Sax at Area F auditions this year. They only take 1, but I'm satisfied. I improved from last year. All I can say is this; I'm glad I'm finished with this process forever. Quote
AzNtRoMbOnEcHiCk Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 i didnt make it this year. but its the first time in newman smith history that we are sending 6. 2 Tenor Trombones ContraBass Clarinet Tuba Trumpet Tenor Saxophone (Jazz) Quote
