Well then that answers my question and confirmed my assumption. :)

Hmm....=l I thought my information was sound...it appears my sources were wrong. I've never asked him about it..but I've heard about it from other people. Oh well...sorry for the bad info.

On a good note our newest staff member will be the son of Donnie VanDoren. =O

Evan? He's awesome! He ran a few of our trumpet sectionals at blue stars during winter camps. You are definitely going to enjoy having him as a teacher

Wait so Spicier is leaving Cedar Park??

Yes he in fact is. He is going to be head director of a new school in the district, Vandegrift High School, which is splitting from Cedar park, and they will be opening as a 4A band. They will be competing in State (if they make it that far), and I hope for them to be a major contende their first year. I know they will be once they band gets larger.

"This year the Trojan Band will present H. Owen Reed's 'La Fiesta Mexicana'. The arrangement is done by Steve Vento and promises to be challenging for the performers and exciting for the audience. The music depicts life in old Mexico from the revelery of the carnival in the town square to reverence of the Mass with the tolling bells of the catherdral and the joy of the fiesta! There promises to be something for everyone both musically and visually in this year's production."

i'm jealous.

John Marshalls 2009 show is entitled "Chaos and Grace" with original music by Kevin Tabb.

Kevin Tabb is one of the assistant directors at Marshall. I'm not sure about the other musical selections, I may get more information later on.

I just now realized this but you got the "C/Karl"s confused. It should be Carl Orff and Karl Jenkins ^_^ . I too am looking forward to this show since Carmina is amazing, everything Jenkins writes is genius, everyone loves Moonlight Sonata and Dvorak reminds me of Phantom (though I played the band version even before I'd heard Phantom's rendition and loved it even then). I'm not familiar with Mozart's "Rondo alla Turca"....most Mozart transcriptions I've found don't work all that great for band but considering this isn't your typical Mozart, maybe they've got something up their sleeve. Sounds like a good show.

Im a part of the Wakeland band.. but im in the colorguard... but this show will be amazing... i feel really good about it!
