yadoos Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 thank you so much boyd you are now our brother band i saw poteets prelims show it was sloppy(technique-wise) inconsistent(spacing) they sounded pretty good but im pretty sure thats not enough for first oh wait not to mention the 2 baritones with their horns pointed down like they were aiming at the hash marks and the trombone's constantly varying angles and lifting slides over plumes that got too close ... Donezo Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Still kind of scratching my head over finals results. Very strange contest... Quote

I hope you are not referring to our (the McKinney Boyd Band) Grand Champion title as "strange." We may have earned 6th place in finals last year, but we also greatly improved through hours of practice and building on the tradition of past graduated band members over the course of several months. We worked very hard to put on a great show for competition. Not to mention we played our hearts out during finals!!! Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed Poteet's show and thought it was absolutely brilliant (especially the woodwind features) and the shows of the other bands that were present at the invitational. P.S.- Congrats to all of the bands that performed in the Plano East Marching Invitational! Just another way to show off one's hard work and capabilities! Congratulations especially for the McKinney High School Royal Pride Band on their 8th place finish and whose show was simply spectacular!! Edited October 12, 2009 by boydbronco94 Quote
