itsstephenyo Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Woot Bell takes Arlington again! CG to Hebron for placing the highest they've ever placed at a regional! WOOT! .14 points separating 3-5. Wtf .09 Hebron. That's a really odd score at a BOA competition. Quote
the terminator Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 yeah for wakeland i'm so proud of them, just 4 years ago they didnt even make 3A area, and now they fought with the heavyweight 5A bands, and to place in this contest is amazing. hopefully this possibly launches them to a possiblility of win 4A state this year Quote

itsstephenyo Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 It just wouldn't load for me. Kept hanging, then would give me an error. Oh well, not a big deal really. Quote

banddude12 Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Wakeland getting a spot in finals of Arlington supports my statement eariler this week that wakeland will be in the 4A run for state this year and after watching them tonight it will be very hard to stop them. Quote

Not necessarily. The fact that they won GE in prelims and didn't even make top 3 in class makes their visual and music scores questionable. We'll see when the scores are released, but since UIL doesn't have GE they could very well have a tough time. That said, I wish them the best of luck. Quote
the terminator Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 they might not win but i think they have a great chance to make the top 5, and possibly medal b/c i do agree with u wakeland likes to build the show around heavy GE, but i've been in their program and i know they'll be cleaning hard on drill and music. Let's not forget that Wakeland was competing in a class with Richland, Mansfield, and Colleyville, all of whom are stellar 5A programs in their own right. Quote

Exactly Wakeland kept of with 5A state finalists in their debut of BOA. That is incredible for an organization only in its 4th year. Also lets not forget that wakeland was the tmea runner up in the 4A honor band competition in only its 3rd year. Quote
the terminator Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 does anyone know when we get full recaps? Quote

allstater09 Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 hey, im from hebron, i just wondering for those of you who saw us, how good did our prelims and finals perfromances sound, ive always wanted to hear and see us live, but never the oppurtunity, so how was it? Quote

If you want to see the show, they've posted a video on youtube of T.O.C. finals. And the review on txblive was very accurate. Quote
ftwdrummer Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Check out the BOA Arlington replay over at TxBLive, and you'll get Sanchez's opinion. I can't say anything myself (I was in Houston), but if Hebron this year is anything like Hebron last year...y'all get some mad props from me. Quote
itsstephenyo Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Recaps have been posted for this competition. Here are links, if you're a lazy bum. Prelims Finals Some thoughts: Mansfield put up really solid numbers across the board. The only thing that really hurt them was a low GE score. Any input on Haltom? I know they typically bloom late, but wow. (finals) Individual Music : Bell Ensemble Music : Marcus Individual Visual: Mansfield Ensemble Visual : Hebron Haha, Mansfield and Hebron had almost exactly opposite ensemble/individual visual scores. Also, based on the score sheets, it looks pretty equal across the board. Nothing glaringly bad. Quote
Danpod Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Prelims Top Ten: 1. L.D. Bell 2. Marcus 3. Berkner 4. Hebron 5. Coppell 6. Richland 7. Mansfield 8. Colleyville Heritage 9. Wakeland 10. Haltom L.D. Bell won Prelims by 1.2 points. They won Finals by .9 points. This spread is a lot more consistent than the one we saw at Houston. Wakeland's Prelims Review: Not in the top half of Prelims in either Music or Visual. 6th in General Effect in Prelims. Quote
Xenon Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Prelims: - Newman Smith 2nd in Music Performance Ensemble behind Marcus and higher than LD Bell - The 10 highest GE were the 10 finalists - Coppell 4th in Music Ensemble but 15 in Music Individual Quote
