Figures...All the Texas bands go on during my ONE class on Friday.

Block three on Thursday looks pretty amazing. 7:15-8:00 Looks like a little taste of what finals will be like.

Does Michigan perform exhibition every year?

No. Grand Nationals usually has different programs in exhibition year after year.

Wait... two Avon's? Which one is the one that generally makes finals/is a contender for the top spot?

Also, first block Friday looks like fun! Is that random(or semi random)? That's pretty awesome if it's random.

We've almost always had Grand Nationals on the predictions lineup each year.

For Saturday contests, we usually put up contest predictions in the early/middle part of the week of the contest. Since the GN festival starts next Wednesday, expect predictions up sometime later this week.

lol I like how almost all of the Texas bands are in the same block.

That's how it's scheduled. The Grand Nationals Prelims schedule is also based on geographical location. If there's mulitiple Texas bands attending, one or two either perform in the last block of Thursday Prelims and the rest in the first block on Friday Prelims. That's why you see mostly southern bands in the first and second block on Friday.

From the BOA Rulebook:

  Quote
The competition format is determined by the President of Bands of America in consultation with

the Advisory Committee. Enrollment shall be determined on a first come, first served basis by

POSTMARK. There is no limit on enrollment by class. The competition will be comprised of

two preliminary contests

I don't think that'll be possible.

The contest starts the day after tomorrow and over 100 people have already submitted predictions for the event. If we added American Fork, we'd have to purge the current Grand Nationals list and everyone would have to resubmit predictions (that's the only way to be fair to the ones that didn't get a chance to vote for American Fork). That wouldn't be a problem if this were 2 or 3 days ago, but since so many people have already submitted and it's so close to contest, a lot of people would be excluded from the game simply because they didn't get back on the site in time to realize that their old submission was deleted because of a new band in the mix. If 1 or more of those of people were currently ranked in the top 10 in points, we'd probably be getting a couple angry e-mails from those people if we decided to do that : / .

This why we generally wait until very close to the event to set up predictions for it.

How many bands advance from prelims to semis?

Somewhere between 30 and 42...and closer to 30.

Semis consists of:

-The top 11 scores from each day.

-The next eight highest scores

-If any of the four classes do not have four bands already in semifinals, the next-highest ranking bands from each of those classes will be added to semifinals so that class championships may be awarded after semifinals.

If I were to hazard a guess, I think there'll be 33 finalists...and all three of the extras will be class A.
