My high school band wasn't very good, so it's nice to have an amazing one right up the road! Quote
jbroomas Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 (edited) I was able to make it to about 40 minutes of your rehearsal yesterday evening and the full run-through, and I am so glad I was able to make it. I absolutely love your musical selections, and the sounds you're putting out are amazing as well. Terrific sonority all around and great full ensemble. There were a few spots where I heard tearing. Mainly when there are the four large groups separated from one another...the woodwinds, low brass, high brass...etc...It makes it that much harder when you are that far away from one another. You cannot rely on your own pulse, or what you're hearing to stay together here. Also, when the students up front start their rhythmic chanting, they tend to rush a bit, adrenaline is a *****, but you have to be mindful of the one central pulse that is the drum major. Those are just a couple of minor things that I personally heard. The only other minor problem I saw was a few students anticipating their next set, which causes spacing to get off a bit at times...and maybe a few visual body-movement timing issues here and there. These are all just minor things, and I know ya'll are going to do fantastic at GN. I'll be cheering for you here in montgomery county via the live webcast! I'm so excited...
