Daylen007 Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Anyone know why the music is so.... strangely easy this year? Quote
alinktothepresent Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 They're probably easier so that judges will hear more kids ACTUALLY PLAYING rather than just stumbling through the etudes. Not sure about you, but here in region 20, only about four or five kids (out of, say, thirty) can actually play anything cleanly. Usually two players are really stout. The rest are too intimidated by the multiple flats in the key or difficult technique. Granted, these kids shouldn't be making region anyway since the whole point is to PRACTICE, but maybe the people who chose this year's etudes wanted a change of pace. That's just my theory, mind you. gunther Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Ok good, im not the only one. I was really disappointed when i first saw it. It makes me really mad, because now everybody's gonna be able to play it so it'll be even harder to make it of course, the guy above me has a point. anyone who was able to play through the etudes without stopping was able to make region where i am, and that was only 2 people (for bari sax anyways) Quote
Euphonipwn Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 I have no idea who actually picked out the music for last year, but they might have very well switched the people who actually choose the etudes. This is what happened to the trumpet etudes as well. Quote
That Sax guy Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 what happend this year is that the etude that were submitted to be used consisted of two hard technical pieces (which was what was wanted) and two easy technical pieces( the easy ones being a bluff so that they would have to pick the harder ones). It just so happens that the committee people who get the final say called the bluff and pick the 2 easier etudes. Quote
