I am pretty sure that there is. It would be kind of like autotune for an instrument. I don't know any specifics though.

My only question is to why you would want to do this...?

I have a question? is there software where you can change the sound of an instrument through a mic?

Such as a trumpet soloist sounding like an oboe? or other effects

There are many ways to do this. Bell did effects processing on their trumpet soloists in The Remaining. Gave it a really spooky feel.

Bluecoats did this this past year. I think they had a mellophone playing into a mic and a trumpet sound coming out or something

I know one of the bands in the 2007 4A State year did, don't remember the school, but they had trees in the back and color guard acted like bats, or fairies or something. Wanna say it was one of the Keller schools, but don't hold me to that

Yes there is. I use it all the time!

You can't make an instrument sound like another instrument, but you can put all manner of cool effects on them.

Check out Logic Studio if you have a mac, or Cubase or Pro Tools if you have a PC

Oh, you can make it sound like another instrument....well, not really, but you would be using the mic that the instrument is playing into as a MIDI trigger that could activate a VST sampler of the instrument you want it to emulate.
