How was Duncanville's performance? It seems odd how low their music score was.

So I'm going to be slightly biased since I'm in the Duncanville Band, but the show and the performance felt absolutely amazing. As we played the first note, it started pouring down raining, and as we marched the rain fell harder and harder. It started to thunder and lighting too, but we just kept going. We were completely soaked, but it was, in my opinion, the best performance we have given, although individual things could have been better. We are all really proud and excited for STATE 2010! :D

The 3A contest was cancelled with the top four from prelims advancing to State. Congratulations to Brownsboro, Pleasant Grove, North Lamar, and Atlanta.

I'll be up front and say that A) I'm far from the most knowledge judge of bands, and B) I'm a Duncanville alum and somewhat biased.

I honestly thought Duncanville's music was better than their marching overall, so those scores surprise me a bit as well. But I must say the show was very well designed, and definitely more progressive that what you usually see from them. The music score may have been hurt by the weather. Many of the softer sections were barely audible over the monsoon/thunder they played through.

Loved Coppell's show, though they seem to suffer from their usual syndrome of falling in love with playing loud the entire time. Nonetheless, great sound and very entertaining.

I wasn't crazy about Rowlett's music (Carnival of the Animals) but they played it VERY WELL. Good drill also.

Didn't see Berkner.

Berkner was as loud as Coppell, and marched like a machine that had little to no flaws in it

I saw Duncanville perform, and gotta say. It was truly amazing. I don't know how those kids pulled it off, but i saw the other three finalist, and i woulda placed them in first overall. It was pouring rain, thunder & lightning. Those kiddos had the worst of the rain. I saw them under the stands and they were SOAKED! The music scores were shocking to me, considering the weather, i thought they played pretty well.

1. Rowlett 1 1 2 2 2 = 8

2. Berkner 2 2 3 3 3 = 13

3. Duncanville 4 3 5 1 1 = 14

4. Coppell 3 4 1 4 5 = 17

Music1, Music2, Music3, Marching1, Marching2 = Total

Even with all the Rain i'm amazing that Duncanville got a 1 in marching by both judges. It was really incredible show.

In Coppell's defense, their band director told them that there wasn't going to be a finals round literally 1 minute before they entered the field for prelims. This really psyched them out.

But then again, that's not much justification, that is probably the worst they've performed their show at any of their contests up to their point, and they are aware of this as well. They are MORE than thankful for even advancing at all.

Good Job to all bands.

Rowlett played nice and marched well, I just didnt care for it as a person in the stand. Judges perspective its good. Im not into carnival music.

Berkner played and marched well. I cant stop humming the music, it gets stuck in your head!

Coppell and Duncanville were the same as they always are. Pretty boring, but great players and marchers.

Sachse should not play christmas music lol

Thats twice Sachse has played Xmas music, and each time I was upset because it was so boring. Clean, but boring

I wouldn't go as far as saying Duncanville's music is boring. They got real progressive this year with drill and music. Their repertoire, especially the 2nd and 3rd movement along with St. Michael sound real good.

I love Duncanville's music, but thats me. Rowlett's opener is great but gets dull to me after that, but it's still a great band. We will never know if Rowlett would have been 1st in finals, but we can always guess

It was a fun (and wet) performance. As you can tell, it rained on Rowlett too and heard the kids did not find out that their prelim performance was what they would be judged on until around 3pm. Duncanville and Berkner were both awesome. It was a great day in Area C. I felt more energy from Rowlett and Berkner and was amazed with Duncanville. Job well done by all. Sachse has the talent, now they need a good show--not Christmas music. Would like to see playbacks of Berkner & Duncanville.

Lol Duncanville had the worst time to perform. When they started the clouds opened up, and they performed in heavy rain and Lightning :o . With that being said, they were fantastic and would have probly over taken Rowlett in a final. Duncanville seems to always give me what I want as a Fan and I have always loved that big sound and solid marching they always bring to every contest. Even in the thuderstorm

I agree that Duncanville had a difficult time to perform. The lightning was very scary. But, please remember that Rowlett was the first band to perform in the heavy rain. All of the bands that perfromed before and after these two had easier weather conditions. Both bands showed excellent poise to be able to perform in such difficult conditions and excel.

Having seen all four top bands perform I feel the scores are justified.

I am also curious if anyone has all of the results from the contest. I cannot seem to locate it anywhere online.

Rowlett: 1, 1, 2, 2, 2 (1)- 8

Berkner: 2, 2, 3, 3, 3 (2)- 13

Duncanville: 4, 3, 5, 1, 1 (3)- 14

Coppell: 3, 4, 1, 4, 5 (4)- 17

Sachse: 5, 6, 4, 5, 10 (5)- 30

at least the gap between Coppell and Sachse was pretty big so it kinda leaves no doubt that the 4 that are going to state should definitely be there.
