They are land-locked into 4A and are in the southwestern most corner of Leander ISD. Any further development in that district will be in the northern region (pulling from Leander and Rouse High Schools), as the southern half is filled out with Cedar Park, Vista Ridge, and Vandegrift. Redistribution of students via boundary alterations. It will happen, it is a matter of when; which will not be soon, as I stated previously.
mellopwn1 Posted October 28, 2010 Author Posted October 28, 2010 Well, if it is going to happen in 10 years, then I don't really care... So many things could happen between now and then to these bands that I don't think minor rezoning of schools is going to have a major effect. mrwood69 said: I did say not near future... Drummantx Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Canyon's getting a heck of a lot better. State 2011? I think so.

Chester Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I do not think Keller Fossil Ridge is on the Decline. We came in 3rd at the Desoto contest and won the General Effect and percusion award. Then the following week at the HEB contest we came in 2nd overall and lost to Legacy by .30 of a point. We won General Effect, Music and Percusion awar for both the prelims and Finals.

This is what I think, and if you want reasons I will give them.
drummerdad Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I think you have to include Mansfield in the "on the rise" category. TOC champs and two straight alternate finishes in the bloodbath that is Area B.

TxRaider13 Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 shmeh said: The facts he gave are his "opinion"...? That sounds pretty screwed o.o Fossil Ridge hasn't been in state finals since 99, and hasn't placed higher than 12th according to the UIL website. They placed 3rd in Desoto and 2nd at HEB, 2 contest that aren't stacked this year. They just have been a band I wanted so much more out of each time I have ever seen them, and they never give me that extra something. So umm if you don't like what I have put then get over it, it's here untill someone removes it

daldhowe Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 On a more positive note.....my humble opinion of 5A bands on the rise in the DFW area: -Mansfield -Plano East -Keller I'm sure there are more.....no comments on decline!

And I hope you went to both the DeSoto and HEB contests; otherwise, your opinion is worth about as much as the air you're breathing and has even less supporting it. While I didn't attend Fossil Ridge or any Keller ISD school, I agree with the kid from that band. I find your posts a little offensive and remind you that these forums are a friendly gathering place for band members, directors, and enthusiasts. Negative criticism and bashing of bands (whether intentional or not) is just not appreciated here. Remember that your attitude reflects not only on you, but on the groups you've been a part of, like the Cavaliers, and the Forney and Poteet band programs. Edited October 29, 2010 by aaron067
Drummantx Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 I might add Round Rock on the 5A rising list, but that's just an opinion. Great list. (Considering you put us on the rise. lol) TxRaider13 said: On The rise: 2A-Malakaff(or however it's spelled) 3A- Port Isabel North Forney Kaufman 4A-Forney Waxahachie Canyon Roma 5A-Hebron Haltom Garland High Rowlett Plano East Plateau: Duncanville Marcus Bell Mesquite Poteet Friendswood Coppell Queen City (This is a plateau I think anyone would like to be on, this is as high as you go) On the fall: Lake Highlands Sherman Frienship Azle Keller Fossil Ridge Mesquite High Wills Point (All marching band related)

sousapwn Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 i know this is gonna sound really biased because i go to Mansfield but im still gonna say it, Mansfield has been on a rise for a few years now (since we got new directors) and will be for the next few years. And i say we would have done way better at Area B this year if the weather had cooperated and we had finals, but thats another story...
