Xenon Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 This is shaping up to be a huge year for the DMI. It is going to be on Saturday, October 29, 2011 which is the week before the BOA SA Super Regional and a full 3 weeks after BOA Houston. That also puts it on the same day as most of the 1A/2A/4A UIL Area competitions, so there won't be many bands from those classifications. http://www.duncanville.k12.tx.us/band/DMI.HTM Here is the non-final list that is currently published: Berkner HS, Richardson TX Bryan HS, Bryan TX Cedar Hill HS, Cedar Hill TX Coppell HS, Coppell TX DeSoto HS, Desoto TX Haltom HS, Haltom City TX James Martin HS, Arlington TX Keller Central HS, Keller TX Keller HS, Keller TX Klein Oak HS, Spring TX Lakeview Centennial HS, Garland TX Langham Creek HS, Houston TX Legacy HS, Mansfield TX MacArthur HS, Irving TX Marcus HS, Flower Mound TX McKinney Boyd HS, McKinney TX Midlothian HS, Midlothian TX Morton Ranch HS, Katy TX Richland HS, North Richland Hills TX Robert E. Lee HS, Tyler TX Rowlett HS, Rowlett TX Sandra Day O'Connor HS, Helotes TX William B. Travis HS, Richmond TX If you include the exhibition by Duncanville, there are: - 4x 5A State Finalists from 2010 - 1x 4A State Finalist from 2009 - 4x State Champions (any year, any classification) - 12x Former State Finalists (any year, any classification) Quote
GBMELLO Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 i'm excited to be at this contest! it'll be it's own mini-state marching contest with some of the best bands showing up! it's gonna be incredible and even better if O'Connor can make finals! Quote
TxRaider13 Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 I'll take Haltom as a shot in the dark to take it all... Maybe Rowlett Quote

That's bold considering history, but nobody has really seen anybody yet so it really is anybody's game right now. Quote

The Indian band places in finals in San Antonio almost every year and did well at State last year and in years past, I think they'll be consistent this year too! That makes for essentially 8 locks of a level worthy of a BOA Regional. Quote

GBMELLO Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Does Duncanville always have 12 finalists? I remember in 2009 (last time we were there) we were all shocked that there were 12 finalists. Quote

In 2009, there were 12 finalists due to judging inconsistencies during Prelims. Quote

Guitarplayer1002 Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 I don't understand why Duncanville isn't big talk this year, should be a bloodbath for finals. Locks? Darkhorses? contest is two weeks away! Quote

SherryC Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Euless Trinity is also coming to this competition. What do you think their chances are against this list of competitors? I saw the HEB Marching Contest last week and saw several of the bands listed as coming to this contest. I believe Marcus will be extremely difficult to beat; on the other hand, I have not seen all of the competing bands. Quote

ProudBandDad Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 Duncanville High School - you guys are 1st class! The DMI is a very nice competition - well planned and executed. I feel for the kids that did not get to play because of transportation issues. That really bites. For a second, I thought the DMI was giving out 42" TV's for captions, then found out it was a raffle... prizes for captions, hum... that would make things interesting.... Anyhow, job well done Duncanville Panther Band & Boosters - rock on! -- PBD Quote

We were saying the same thing. What a trophy! haha It sure got cold last night, but I wouldn't have missed it for anything! Very proud of all three of the Birdville ISD bands yesterday. Ya did GOOD! GorgMikhala Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Hey, sorry that its been 3 years, but i was wondering were i could find a recourding for my school's performance during this competition. I went to Langham Creek at the time and I've searched everywhere. Quote
takigan Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 You'll probably need to purchase the recording if you're looking for a specific school at a non-UIL/BOA festival. Mr. Video was their producer for 2012, 2013 and this year....but I couldn't tell you who their producer was for 2011. You could e-mail Jeff King or David Brandon at Duncanville to ask where to purchase it, or possibly Mr. Video....as they may know who had producer rights for that year, even if they didn't have them.
