Who would you like to see win 4A State this year?

While that's fantastic for Aledo (who has always had crazy intense shows), I do think that Boswells original Prelims placement does put them as a group to keep a careful watch over.

Im not ruling out Poteet, they can still come in and knock everyone out. Cedar Park, Vandigrift and Dripping Springs are equally matched as far as I am concerned, it may end up being a coin toss

Poteet always has and always will give their best, but I think this is going to be a rebuilding year for them. They will have hard compettition in Area C, and it will be close as to whether they make it to state this year. I have followed them for years, so I sure hope they do.

Don't forget McKinney, they beat Duncanville in prelims at PEMI and finished in a close second in finals.

I always consider McKinney to be a competitor, but never as strong as they have been this year. I'm EXTREMELY impressed with how they're doing this year.

My personal favorite shows for 4A that I've seen are definitely Mansfield Timberview and Newman Smith.

 

I have always loved Hendrickson and Dripping Springs. I would love to see them take the top spot.

 

I will throw this thought out there:

 

Frisco Centennial Placed 2nd at their competition this weekend, beating out power house 5A Bands Hebron, Sachse, Haltom AND Rowlett. They placed 2nd overall in music, falling behind the 5A honor band, Hebron. I think they may be a force to be reckoned with this season for sure.

 

Good to hear. We're pretty confident about music this year, but marching is another story for some sets. Also our 2nd bass drum broke his hand, one of our snares failed a class, and another shattered his elbow, so our drumline is severely crippled...

That must be really harsh. A strong drumline is crucial for a steady beat in my opinion.

1 Dripping Springs HS: Music = 2 1 2 Marching = 1 2 Total = 8

2 Friendswood HS: Music = 1 4 1 Marching = 2 3 Total = 11

 

Even if Music Judge #2 would have had Friendswood as 2nd instead of 4th, Friendswood still would have been 2nd to Dripping Springs.

Actually, Friendswood got a 4th place from the substitute judge, not a 3rd place, and every other music judge that day (5 total) gave them first place. Anyway, receiving 2nd place three times in the past five state marching contests, Friendswood is the epitome of bad luck (and sometimes bad judging). But as everyone knows, no one remembers second place.

(2x 1st's in Music and 1x 1st in Marching = Champion regardless of total)

I completely disagree. When 5 music judges give you first over the course of prelims and finals, and one judge gives you fourth, you have to wonder what the judge was smoking to be different from FIVE other judges.

Frisco sounds so awesome...............their woodwinds are quite talented lol. they are going to pack a punch.

 

all those are huge victories. vandy is going to do some damage, and dawson too, with how the area F results turned out with them in 1st. havent heard boswell yet.
