themainclarinet Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 I was not suprised when round rock won best percussion. It sounded great...well atleast the part I got to hear! Quote
VRHSRangerTBone Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 We were out of finals by ONE PLACE!! Placed 11th overall in Prelims and 3rd in 4A. Much better than Capital City last Saturday. We all knew we were better than what we showed last week. There's a tight race going on for Area D. Got a little under 2 weeks till judgement day. Should be a great finish! Quote
G'townPIT Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Definitley gotta say that Round Rock drumline kicked A. only beat us by a 1 point i think, but congrats to them. Quote
Mculbert07 Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Round Rock also won the Music - 98.5 (WOW!) Congrats to everyone. Good job Cedar Park - 2 years in a row! Quote
euro_euph06 Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Does anyone have the recap for the event? Quote
smusic Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Anyone have prelim results, scores??? Looking for 4A placements as well. Thanks! Quote
hhsquadguy Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 I really liked Round Rock. Sandra Day O'connor was good too. I liked our finals performance too, except for the huge tear in the closer... but that's alright. Quote
tigger2 Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Sandra Day O'Connor got like 99.00 something in marching in prelims...whats up with that kinda score? Round Rock was great....shoulda taken 1st. IMO Quote
G'townPIT Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Yes! Round Rock should have got 1st. I really liked O'conner's show music it was so cool. They had some really cheesy visuals though. Akins had some weird visuals too. Quote
nnelsonbsn Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Cedar Park won 5A music in prelims with a 97.5 I believe. Quote
tigger2 Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Connally, LBJ and MacCallum are normally 4A, but went 5A due to too many students taking SAT"s. Connally's score was highest of all 4A's with Hendrickson a very close 2nd. Quote
themainclarinet Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 99 for O'Conner's pre-lim marching score...I don't think I have ever heard that number in band!!!! Quote
Dynasty Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Well obviously the scoring is inflated compared to a BOA standard. Remember, that most of the scoring is relative to the other bands. Look at finals... lowest score was an 85? That's a full 3 points higher than Winston Churchill, which WON the BOA Houston Regional just last week. Another factor to consider is that there is only 1 judge for each caption. Although Westlake follows UIL rules, they do not follow the UIL standard of 3 music and 2 visual judges... instead they have 1 judge for percussion, design/effect, music, visual, and auxillary. Quote
LeanderBass5 Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Sandra Day O' Connor used our 2003 Leander Show, Mirages, note for note, just with the Aladin part added. Quote
tigger2 Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 I wonder if Westlake will post scores for prelims and/or finals on their website? Quote

thesnareguy Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 i think rr should of made 1st. their drumline was awesome. if only they had more people on the drumline..... Quote

Some of the upperclassmen in our band are quite questionable when it comes to reliable sources. . I actually went home last night and listened because I was curious, and yeah, it doesn't really sound anything like our arrangement did. It was still an interesting show, and their band is huge. LeanderBass5 Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 hrm....I thought they wern't deserving of their scores. btw, are you Whitney? Quote
Lustra.exe Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 thesnareguy said: i think rr should of made 1st. their drumline was awesome. if only they had more people on the drumline..... agreed, RR's drumline was awesome. but if they had more people in their drumline then it would have less impressive. that is one of the things i liked about RR's drumline. they kept it small yet still produced the sound need from the battery section. cedar park's drumline on the other hand had the same volume, more people, less clarity. it also veries on the size of band so that may have been the reasoning behind CP's 7 man snareline. tigger2 Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Will they (Westlake) be posting scores (prelims) on their website? Quote
