I know both Mansfield and Legacy will be at San Antonio and Summit has a shot at making 4a state. Mansfield of the ones I've seen (Granted I've only seen Timberview and Mansfield). Timberview's show is really entertaining. The GE That Mansfield brings though is just mind blowing. Quote
Cookie_MonsterSR Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 Who thinks that there is a chance that both Mansfield and Legacy make it into finals at San Antonio? If not then which one of the two or neither and why? Quote

Cookie_MonsterSR Posted October 29, 2011 Author Posted October 29, 2011 Good luck to Summit who is participating in 4a Area B today, hopefully they make state now that they are 4a. They are definitely capable of it this year. And to Legacy who is at Duncanville today. Quote
Maybird95 Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 i go to Mansfield, and this year has definitely been a tough one. I honestly cannot wait for BOA SA because we will finally get to march in the dome. We have never even made it to a huge competition like this, and i hope we will do well, along with our family school Legacy. Though i have only been in the band for several years, the thing that sets the show this year apart is our GE. though this has been a tough season, i wish ever band going to BOA SA the best of luck, and look for us in the stands cheering you guys on. Cookie_MonsterSR Posted October 31, 2011 Author Posted October 31, 2011 GE has been one of Mansfield's best aspects along with marching the last several years. If they could step up their musicality just a little bit i have no doubt that they could be considered one of the elite bands in the state. Although its hard to be musical when you're marching at over 180 BPM. Quote

And especially when its two highly talented programs like Haltom and Richland, its impressive that you can still do that when both bands are competing for the top spots but only one gets it. Quote

Very true let me rephrase my statement then. Its hard to play the extremely technical passages at well over 180 BPM while doing the kind of drill that Mansfield does. Mansfield doesn't have the raw musical talent that say Bell or Marcus do so it's more difficult to achieve that level of musicality. However, there are high school bands that can do it (and bravo to them), not all of them are in Japan either. And while some high school marching bands are highly talented i don't think that comparing them to DCI groups is necessarily a good indication of their skill. Just my personal opinion. Quote
latorre Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 They are going to do really well Saturday! GO MANSFIELD! Time show everyone what ya'll are made of!!!!! Quote

Man, they both just BARELY out of finals. Mansfield was in 21st in prelims, and Legacy was in 16th. Legacy was 0.25 outside of making finals. Gah, what a close competition! Both bands would have done really well in finals. Quote

Agreed, although after seeing both performances Saturday i would have had Mansfield 16 and Legacy 17 or 18, but im no judge. Mansfield's show just seemed to pull the audience into the show more, and the resonating chords before they started were incredible in the dome. Legacy however sounded great through their show and didn't have any problems with the echo. Either way it was a close race and both bands did a great job. Congrats to Legacy, for a band that is only a few years old they are well on their way to becoming one of the elite bands that everyone talks about. Quote
