So at the moment it looks like Area B will for sure be sending 4 bands to the TSMBC.

Still waiting for results from Region 7 to see if there will be 4, 5, or 6 bands from this area going though!!

Who is your top 4?

Newman Smith (C/FB)

This Saturday is going to be crazy. Centennial's more than ready. :)

Just saw a video of your show from the Tournament of Champions competition. It looks really good. Good luck to you guys.

I'm really pulling for Southwest! I think out of the bands that made it last year, Aledo, Southwest and Newman Smith are the ones that are most likely to make it again.

I would throw Creekview, Centennial and Summit into that group to round out the top 6. I would probably place either The Colony or Birdville as the alternate.

I would also like to point out a portion of the schedule:

McKinney

Everman

Wakeland (Frisco)

Centennial (Frisco)

Aledo

Sherman

Wylie

Joshua

7 of my top 13 bands performing literally back to back to back..... That will be the block to watch for the breakout bands.

Thanks. I've always pulled for Centennial since 2007 when we didn't make it and you guys did.

Also, Aledo actually didn't make it out of Area B last time around. It was Newman Smith, Wakeland, Legacy, and Southwest. I'm interested to see if they pull it off this year. I haven't seen their show or heard much about them. Area B will be crazy as usual, though. At least they're taking six this time.

That's what I had thought. Aledo got 5th? I had said that to a few random directors the other day and they said Aledo made it....

Oh well.. lol.

Aledo actually got seventh. Birdville was the alternate and The Colony came in sixth.

Anyway, Southwest's show is The Rise of the Phoenix. I don't remember what the entire musical program consists of but I know they're playing some of Mackey's Kingfishers Catch Fire and Stravinsky's Firebird. Here's a video of their performance a little over a week ago if you're interested.

Wow! Because of the time of day this was filmed, the shadows make the drill even more dramatic at times. Thanks for sharing!

I DEFINITELY agree. That drill has moments that are intense. I'm excited to see it live. =]

Anyone live blogging this competition?

I will be blogging at the Duncanville Marching Invitational this weekend, but I will post results from any other competitions if they are sent in as comments.

Just submitted mine as well. Did it more to enjoy viewing other people's predictions, though, and I only did the top six. I really don't know much about the bands this year. The only shows I've seen are Centennial's, which looks amazing, and Southwest's. I just kind of went on past success and a little of what I've heard on TheYellowBoard.

I went mostly on names.

It's sad to say, but I think that these bands are so consistent with each other as far as talent this year that I wouldn't be surprised if the band's "name" had some effect on their overall ranking.
