TxRaider13 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Just some love for the 3A schools.... I have only seen Fredericksburg, and they looked really good when I saw them. They are playing Angels In The Architecture and do a great job with it, other than them I would be going off history with North Lamar, Argyle, Canton, and Wills Point, outside of them I have no idea who would round out finals spots Quote
adktcu Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Argyle, Princeton, and Wills Point were very impressive on Saturday at Area B Finals. I've seen videos of North Lamar and Port Isabel as well and both are state finalist caliber. Gotta go with Argyle again though. 2X defending 3A champion that got first in prelims and finals in the toughest area. Total score of 6 in prelims (1 1 1 1 2) and 10 in finals (2 2 1 1 4). Quote
doomshades Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Would have to agree that Argye will probably win in the fact that they have been just destroying all other 3a's in area and in other contests and then at area, but 2nd and 3rd should be interesting since we haven't seen much of Princeton as well as they were only one place back from North Lamar at Denton contest and you never know we could have a suprise like last year with Redwater. Princeton was very impressive at Area B on Saturday. Great show and theme. They will have a lot of fan support because of their theme and great sound. That Area B finals felt like the state finals (minus North Lamar because they weren't there). Quote
doomshades Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 (edited) Do any of you guys know rank scores for area B? Edited October 29, 2012 by doomshades Quote
TxRaider13 Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 (edited) 10, I believe since 22 bands are attending Edited October 29, 2012 by TxRaider13 Quote
Itsonlyme Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I think it is going to be a great contest. I see Argyle, Port Isabel, North Lamar, Fredericksburg, Grulla making finals for sure.It is going to be a fight to the end! This must be the most memorable 3A competition in a long time! Quote
TxRaider13 Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 Here I came up with 7 finalist rather quick, but those last 3 spots are going to be difficult to select. Like I said I have only seen Fredricksburg, and the others are based on history....... Any sleepers this year that could steal a spot? Port Isabel maybe? Quote

Itsonlyme Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 You are probably right. I am only going based on what I have seen some of the bands perform this year in Area competition. The rest I have not had the pleasure to see.Again, I will say that this year 3As around the state have really stepped it up! Some of these bands, I have never heard of, but they are impressive! Sound qualities and tonal centers are great.... Equal to a 5A sound! Quote
terpsichore Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Yeah I can see that happening. Good luck to all bands! TxRaider13 said: Throw Canton and Wills Point in there and thats about where I'm at.... Quote

as7 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Fredericksburg is a definite finalist. I would also include Rio Hondo Argyle, Canton, Wills Point, and Port Isabel Quote

TxRaider13 Posted October 30, 2012 Author Posted October 30, 2012 I always dig the fire bird... Just wish they would crank up the tempo.... Then again I am a trumpet at heart, high fast and loud baby.. good show look forward to watching if they get into finals Quote

Lupe Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I think I could see Burnet being in there some where the finals, they competed with a lot of different schools that they normally don't in Area and ended up with taking first in Area D Quote
