Rubisco Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Recaps have already been posted on the BOA website. A big congrats to Cedar Ridge for being third in both prelims and finals. Interestingly, The Woodlands got the same score in prelims as they did in finals (84.95), and even though they lost the two performance captions to CTJ in prelims, they still beat CTJ by over a point in that round. (This sort of confirms all the good things everyone's been saying about TW's GE.) TW was actually ranked first in both ensemble visual performance and ensemble music performance in prelims, but lost those two captions based on the individual performance scores. This means 5 of the 7 judges had them first in prelims. That number drops to 3 for finals. Quote
justabandkid94 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I was thinking about San Antonio/Nationals. It's a pretty obvious fact that the past couple years The Woodlands has had very high levels of velocity in their drill compared to others. If it comes down to between Marcus and TW at SA and Indy, would the demand of TW's show (if it is executed at higher levels than in the pas) help push them past the incredible refinement of Marcus? justabandkid94 1 Quote
Rubisco Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I'm not convinced difficulty plays as big a part in general effect as people think it does. GE has always been more about flow, originality, and "selling" your show. That's not to say a well-performed difficult show wouldn't be recognized by these judges; I just pretty firmly believe the previously stated factors are a much larger component. If TW overtakes Marcus through GE, it likely won't be primarily because they performed a difficult show well. Quote
whitewing09 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 I'm really interested in seeing where Cedar Ridge goes from here! I remember that they had quite a great showing early season last year, but kind of climaxed too early to make finals at BOA SA. They actually medalled this year beating out top dogs Hebron and CP scoring above an 80, which is a pretty significant feat at an early contest! Also, CTJ was right on TW tail! If memory serves me correctly, TW blew away the competition last year. AHHH such an exciting season. Quote
whitewing09 Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Does anyone know when BOA is going to release the Conroe videos? Also why are they so absurdly slow this year in releasing TX videos this year ? Parkwoodmom 1 Quote

It was the first contest of the season, most bands don't have their full shows up or have them to full speed. I wouldn't get too... cocky? That being said congrats to The Woodlands. Quote
