Avar1994
Not gonna lie... Lakeridge has got to be one of my new favorite bands. I've only seen an old video of em, and loved it. I can only imagine how good they did on Saturday. If anyone knows where a recent video of them is, can you share? If not, I can't wait to see them in San Antonio! Also congrats to the other bands, I only got to see a few, but I was extremely impressed with legacy! Sad that they didn't make it lumossnox

Popular Post jmatthews
One thing that needs to stop is people hyping up their own band. It is great y'all are enjoying your time in band, but we all need to stick (as much as we can) with objective rather than subjective argumentation. Loudsaxes1
I go to poteet and I would have to say our show with 76 sets and more than 3/4 of the show at 168. It is a challenging show along with playing blue shades. I would have to say I'm in athletics a I still am always seeing black at the end of our show

BlackJesus
The fact that UIL doesn't judge on how difficult a show is is kinda ridiculous. I remember seeing a stand band win state, on youtube though. What's so great about marching 3 feet to your next set all the time?
bandnerd2013
I don't think Lake Ridge is as big of a competitor as everyone is making them out to be. They don't do a whole lot of marching. I'm personally excited to see what Waxahachie, Friendswood, Vista Ridge, Dawson, and Vandergriff have to offer heading into San Antonio this year. It's going to be a fierce in the Alama Dome this year. You're right they're not marching. They are freaking running, and sounding really good while doing it! brandonxd
TX_Band
Everyone has difficult parts of their show. There are some bands with over 100 sets. In the end it all comes down to who performs better. 100+ sets, marching at fast tempos, playing difficult music. That is all well and good but if it isn't performed well then it doesn't mean a thing. Dalleyoop

Xenon
The fact that UIL doesn't judge on how difficult a show is is kinda ridiculous. I remember seeing a stand band win state, on youtube though. What's so great about marching 3 feet to your next set all the time? There is nothing that is true about this post. UIL does take difficulty into account in the judging criteria in a multitude of ways and there hasn't been a band to win State in any classification that has easy drill nor easy music. And I have been a spectator at every 5A State competition since 2000 and every classification (1A-5A) since 2005. Dalleyoop
jmatthews
I really enjoy the power of Cedar Park and Vista Ridge's music. That's more of a personal preference than my analysis of musicianship (although they are both outstanding bands). I think one thing about playing loud is that it is more difficult to balance. Popular Post Xenon
I am locking this thread for the next day at least to allow things to settle down. The level of antagonism against specific bands is getting out of hand and is generally without any valid basis.
