stoli Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I have a couple of questions concerning UIL Marching competition rules. 1. Is it ok for the band directors to signal/communicate with the band during performance? 2. Are there any rules on the use of individual microphones/electronics on the field? Or is it anything goes? Just curious, several of us were having a debate this weekend. And, if you want to, what are the rules in the BOA type competitions? Thanks! Quote
Xenon Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 1. Yes 2. Anything Goes This applies to both UIL and BOA. Quote
stoli Posted October 21, 2013 Author Posted October 21, 2013 Thanks!, I just found info clarifying amplification. Evidently there is a proposed amendment to limit amplification of woodwinds to solos and section features. Some thought it was already in effect. Quote
Hard Core Band Fan Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 It must be allowed as I saw one 5A's band director at Reeves stadium this past Saturday talking to his front ensemble and directing during the entire show. It was blatant enough for the judges to see it, so it must be okay. Quote
takigan Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 The band director may conduct the band if he/she chooses. This is actually very common with 1A bands, who not only give the drum majors instruments, but also make the 7th and 8th graders suit up for additional numbers. stoli 1 Quote
mariov2 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Can marching techs conduct on the edge of the field? There is a part in our show where we spread out to where people on the edges cant see any of the drum majors so 2 marching techs get on the 20 yard mark and conduct. Quote
