rhcp Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 With all of the crazy results coming from the area competitions, what are your new predictions with the bands that are advancing to state?
jmatthews Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I'll give it a try. This is really, really hard. Gold: Cedar Park HS (Area D) Silver: Friendswood HS (Area F) Bronze: Vista Ridge HS (Area D) 4. Vandegrift HS (Area D) 5. Connolly HS (Area D) 6. Waxahachie HS (Area C) 7. Dawson HS (Area F) 8. Lake Ridge HS (Area B ) 9. Wakeland HS (Area B ) 10. Sherman HS (Area C)
Abbie123 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I don't think you were there when vista played... you wouldn't put them bronze... Edit: this is a compliment, they totally blew everybody away... I would have them at LEAST Silver, if not gold... jjalldayque and SKatieFunk6 2

I gave my opinion on how the state contest will turn out; there is no need to be snarky. Don't take your bitterness that Leander didn't make it out on me.
Bandlover Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I think it's wide open this year, after Area results, I can't make any predictions jmatthews and Silver 2
titancoaster Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I agree, there are several bands who are in it this year, I can predict finalists but honestly who will medal and what color will all come down to this week of rehearsals...I can not wait for the Alamodome! jmatthews and kjf98 2
Bandlover Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I didn't see the finals for area D, something big must have happened for DS to slip to 6, they looked so good in prelims. No room for mistakes
Tehface Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I'm not sure about Poteet placing higher than sherman. Sherman scored higher than them at Area C. And last year at invitationals. iplaytrumpet 1
Abbie123 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I meant to say Vista is going to be the State champion... There was that big of a gap between CP and Vista I am not bitter about anything... Cedar Park, Vandegrift, Connally, and especially Vista Ridge (the star of the show tonight) simply played better and marched cleaner than Leander. The difference in the scores show it. A one point difference is arguable, a five point one isn't...
principalagent Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 After being at Area D, I can't imagine anything other than an LISD sweep at state. I'm convinced that those three LISD bands would have made it out of 5A Area D as well with the performances given in finals. The next three or so finals bands would have been good bets as finalists at state as well. If only they could send more from such a stacked area! Abbie123 1

A one point difference is arguable, a five point one isn't... Now, let's not forget how CP and Vandy barely made the Area night show in 2011, but pulled through in finals and managed to advance.. And then, a little bit later, CP was crowned UIL champions. Area is not necessarily indicative of state performance. And I'm not saying Vista did not deserve their win... I'm saying its going to come down to who performs the best. ALL 3 groups are equal contenders for the gold. How cool would it be if gold, silver and bronze went to LISD!? Theberrytoner Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 State is going to be a tough rode and it's going to reach high peaks. Yes , some bands that medaled aren't going to be there but that just means that this state is reaching a whole new level. I look forward to competing this year at state and I wish all the other bands good luck as well in this weeks preparations for the biggest stage in Texas marching. It's going to be big and loud and your are going to want to be there trust me. Keykalove 1
westsidefamily Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I know it's fun to post your predictions but obviously they are biased for whatever region we live in. I live in Area B and I am familiar with B&C Area bands so I'll rank them. State will be a new day for all and not based on Area or prior state runs. Frisco Wakeland Poteet Newman Smith Wylie Waxahachie Looking forward to seeing the other state regions compete with North Texas schools. ThatGuy 1
clarinetsrock Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Don't count LakeRidge out. Second year school, Division 1 both years and an amazing (check out the last 2-3 minutes!, those kids haul!) show and a band director who will move mountains for those kids! Looking for them to do great things at States! aduvall and Theberrytoner 2
takigan Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I'd like to try to avoid having a thread for state predictions, a thread for post-area, a state thread for contest day, a state thread for results and then another state thread for analysis of those results.Let's just keep it all in one spot.http://www.txbands.com/forums/index.php?/topic/4671-uil-4a-state-marching-contest/ Abbie123 1
