ok I'm feeling a little tension rising so I'm going to add my 2 cents in for everyone's sake and maybe hopefully possibly relieve some of it. You're absolutely right, you can't base any opinions from last year's results, but I personally think you can base them on history. Cedar Park's history is not to do very well at the beginning of the year, but toward the mid to end they really skyrocket and do extremely well (in my opinion). As for the music caption (I think that was the next conversation) I can honestly say I have no clue. Brazoswood (spelling?) has done very well this year I think and with Reagan and Winston Churchill and everyone else that's going to be there in, what is it? 2 weeks, the competition is definitely going be a good one.

Well, true their has been a director change, but that was only the "head director". The "Marching director" however, is still the same person it was last year. So CP is exactly the same band as last year (minus seniors of course!). So your argument is not really valid. SOrry dude... although I do agree: you cant judge the progress of a band this year by their record last year.

right, even though you have the same directors for certain areas, it is not the director that performs the show. an entire class is lost however. so it is a completely different band. new people, new leaders, and most importantly a new attitude to a fresh start. nowhere near the exact same thing. if this were true then the greatest bands would stay great and the not so great would be s.o.l... Cedar park has gone from a solid 4A band to a 5A powerhouse in 3 years. there is no sameness in that. Hence, arguement: validated.

I think I'm agreeing with you too. Only the head director changed not the marching director so Cedar Park's been used to, for lack of a better term, "working for" the same guy in previous years. I think they'll do well this year, but no doubt with bands like Reagan and Churchill and EVERYONE else going to San Antonio in 2 weeks, we're ALL up for some stiff competition so good luck to everyone!

More on that... Has anyone actually sat their and actually decided to see the difficulty of their marching show. Well, if you don't know..

 

It's a extremely long advance show. It's hard to march for so long and still maintain the same sound they produce, so I believe they are the exact same band as last year too.

Marcus still hadn't put their full closer on the field at BOA Arlington. They will be adding approximately another full minute of beautiful technical Resphighi to the show for BOA SA. At this point, I don't think that they can go anywhere except up.

I dont get why everyone is riled up about what is going to happen and predicting it when I'm willing to bet a good number have not seen half the bands they are ranking and many are extremely biased to begin with, not to mention that there is still a week and a half for all the bands to improve, and each is going to improve at a different rate, it matters not how the bands did earlier, but how they will do in the alamo dome next week.

So, Im really excited about the Super Regional next weekend, and can't wait to show off our show that we have been working on sooo hard and crazy. Im a senior at Leander High school, and our show this year is called Door To Door, and really AWESOME!!!! This year, we coming back and I honestly believe we will make a statement and hopefully the judges and audience will understand it. I wish the best of luck to our sister school Cedar Park and the rest of the awesome bands out there that we will competing against! GOOD LUCK GUYS!! GET IT!!! mattcr

This is very true. But you can get a feel for how a band's going to perform at Super Regionals based on how well they've done throughout this season. Like Churchill's win at Houston and the fact that they've always been high ranking in all the contests they've gone to you just know they're going to do well. But you're right it all comes down to how hard everyone works this next week and a half and how well they're show goes at the actual contest.

Many predictions are made on what has happened, though, in previous competitions. Many people predicted Churchill to win Arlington because they did so well at Houston, while many others put L.D. Bell first because of their reputation. Richland was rumored to be very good, but few saw Brazoswood's music wins, or Reagan's class and regional wins. Now, if you look at the predictions, Reagan is placed first by many for SA, probably because of their Arlington win. Many others put Churchill first, probably since they're still very good. Almost all seem to be adding some bias, but don't we all? I do. It is true that whatever was done previously means nothing on the field, but what has happened before does give an impression, some insight, and (for the bands themselves) some practice and experience for the field, and whatever happens on it. Nevertheless, the TXBands admin probably just saw the large amount of predictions made on the BOA Forums and cashed in on it with an "official" predictions area. Smart move, I'd say.

Reagen of coarse is going to wipe the floor. Marcus's show I hear is one of the best. I think LD Bell isnt as good as they were in years past. Haltom was pretty good, very strange in the type of music... but they made it sound awesome. I havent really (i dont think) any of the other bands but im excited to watch even though my schools time is around 10:30ish... Marcus and the colony are having a football game the friday before so were leaving at half time... at least we are... What a bus drive that willl be!

 

 

Out of all 4 years ive marched with The Colony high school... this is the best year to have marched... the music and marching is great... we were down and out but were coming back... this is the year we turn things around and i gotta tell yah, Ive never been this excited to go to SA to see if my school goes to the top 10.

 

If we dont make it, thats fine... there are alot of bands that are at there best this year, such as Marcus and Reagen and countless others that deserve it as much as we do... but at least we made it from last year being nothing to this year making it to finals in Houston... All 1st divisions in UIL... 6th in Duncanville and 2nd USSBA...

 

We can finally show what TC is really about!

 

I predict We could actually make finals...

All bands will do well. Who cares who wins? We are all winners in life (if you make finals) and remember to purchase a DVD. Good luck to the competing bands, see you on the field.

This year is this year.

Cedar Park placed sixth at the BOA Houston Regional.

And, Brazoswood won Outstanding Music at the BOA Arlington Regional.

ive heard cp. it seems to me like they had a rough start off of the season but as the season progressed, so did they.

 

i expect some really good things from them at san antonio. seems like everyones been counting them out, but i think theyll come out pretty victorious.

 

im not saying first place material. but i dont think theyre in the bottom 10, let alone the bottom 7.
