Xela Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 I'll like to say that Timberview band had an amazing season with outstanding music and execution of drill for a band of 72 competing in 5A competitions against bands with such a prestigious history and skill. The fact that they lost a fellow member to suicide and dedicating this show, "Instinct", to her is pretty astounding. They were ranked higher than Mansfield HS at HEB with winning many titles as best in their class, best music, and best percussion. Definitely looking forward for what they have in store next season. Percussionization Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I think John B. Connally "Green" was a VERY good surprise! I went to watch them at their last rehearsal right before they went to the 4A State Competition this past Saturday. After they finished their last run, I went to talk to some of them. They thought that they weren't so sure of how they liked the show at the beginning of the year, and then that night, they made it into Area! Quote
Theberrytoner Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I think this year has brought us a lot as it wraps up in these next couple of weeks. I would say the show I enjoyed most was probably LD Bell. The way they played and the soft but intense energy they brought was just outstanding to watch and listen to. The one time I saw them at BOA Dallas this year was strong. And this year was my first time ever hearing Hebron and it just blew my mind when they first started with a great attack from what is a great horn line. I love hearing the sounds that schools like LD Bell, Marcus, and Hebron make. Whether it is the LD Bell residence, the Marcus technicality , or the Hebron power house sound, I truly enjoyed watching these bands perform this year and know that they will do great at Grand Nationals. Popular Post noobsown Posted October 29, 2013 Popular Post Posted October 29, 2013 One band the suprised me this year was Lake Ridge. When I saw their show at the Area B Contest I was blown away. For a school that is only 2 years old, they have got a lot of guts to attempt to pull of that show. The ending was quite impressive after all that running and free forming. And they're also in the state marching band contest after taking 1st in the Area contest. I can completely say they worked their a**es off, and I wish them the best of luck at the State contest! Mclovin Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 One band that has certainly proven themselves time and time again is Newman Smith by going to state for their 3rd consecutive year. They have gone through several head director changes since they got 6th in 09 and having a new percussion director and assistant director, they have done extremely well and to make 2nd at area! Looking forward as to how well they do at state, I'd definitely count on them being at finals, and hats off to Lake Ridge for such an amazing show! Quote
knoxisawesome348 Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Does anybody have any opinions on Reagan this year? I haven't heard much of their show and in all honesty have no idea what to expect out of them on friday and saturday. Quote
