mnkyman Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Freaken awesome drum cadence (recording of santa clara vangaurd drumline) http://www.vicfirth.com/artists/gusseck/DoubleBeat2004.mp3 i love how the tenor starts it off Quote
LeanderBass5 Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 I believe Double Beat is an exercise, not a cadence Quote
QuadraticBeats Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Yeah... that's Santa Clara Vanguard playing their version of the basic double beat exercise. So don't call it a cadence unless it is stated to be a cadence, just to save yourself from being verbally attacked by ruthless drummers. At least you'll have an excuse if it turns out to be one. And when a tenor drummer taps something off for the drumline, it is a very happy day for all of us polyrhythmic, multiple sound minded drummers. Quote
stewiemylove Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Thats a really awesome exercise.... yeah i was gonna say, it sounds a bit too "basic"-ish to be a cadence, but cool nonetheless. =D Quote
Clarinot Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Remember, Cadences are welcome in the media library, we just don't have any, but I think it would be fun if we did. Quote

mnkyman Posted December 9, 2005 Author Posted December 9, 2005 Double Beat Double Beat 2004 is Murray Gusseck's latest version of the immensely popular pre-show piece played by the SCV drumline. Murray and the guys take it up another notch or two with this extended version that contains new grooves and the same backbeat funkiness that has made this into one of the most popular drumline stand-alone pieces of all time. ^from the vic firth site Quote
