HHSBaSsTrOmBoNe'09 Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I marched euphonium... then went to regular old Baritone... But i play Bass trombone all i have to say bout that is 1 1/2 G mouthpeices sound REALLY good on baritones! (so that means don't be dissing' the valve t-bones.... They sound better than some brands of Baritones and Euphoniums.) Quote
syclone1635 Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I switched over summer band to euph from trumpet, and I like it a lot more. Was a pain in the **** the first few weeks to hold up compared to a trumpet. Quote
Dontforgettobreathe Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 In your oppinion whats the best mouthpiece and insturment brand? Quote
takigan Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Mpc: BB1 (Brian Bowman Signature) hands down Horn: Willson is most ideal for solo work but the best all-rounder is the Hirsbrunner....wicked awesome horn, but freaking expensive ($7000+). Quote
smoke_dawg_08 Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Yeah, I play Euphonium, too. The funniest thing is to hear the pic's complain about their arms. Actually, it's just kinda sad. HA HA HA HA!!! Quote
Dontforgettobreathe Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 I want to buy a Hirsbrunner so bad that if I have to sell my soul for it. I'll do it. They are that good. Quote
EuphToth Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Is that an offer I hear? Not that I have my own horn, let alone a Hirsbrunner. It gets depressing when you switch horns every year... Quote
HHSBaSsTrOmBoNe'09 Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Me being the bass bone i am say that Bach 1's or 1 1/2's sound great on euphs gives it a deeper tone but i dunno if that kills anything else on the horn Quote
Higgins Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 Hey, how many girl euphs use this site??It's funny, cause you can usually pick them out as the girls with the biggest biceps. It's kinda makes you sad to beat a boy at arm wrestling, but not really. Sorry to resurrect this almost dead thread, but I had to correct my fellow Westwood euphonium player. Unless your arms are out of whack, you don't use your biceps to hold up a marching baritone/euphonium, you use your deltoids, your shoulders. Having bigger biceps will actually make it harder because it will add to the weight that your shoulders have to hold up. Quote
Silme Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Oh no, you just couldn't let it die could you. Every time Ryan, every time! *sigh* So excuse me, my "deltroids" are bigger! ha! ha! Quote
t3hZm4n Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Yay Ryan wins Ryan 1 Thunder "Bicreps" 0. Quote

Claritone Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Yeah biceps really have nothing to do with holding a marching baritone Quote

actualgirltrombone Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 I asked if I could switch to euph for marching season and my director wouldn't let me because I'm too weak. Which is sad, because we REALLY need euphs for next year. Quote
Dusty Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 I play euphonium too! I'm also in the orchestra and play viola. Don't hassle me about it! Quote

GenericWit Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Someone asked about girl euphs. Well, here I am! I'm the only girl in my section (tuba/euph combined), and yet I somehow am section leader. I guess I have the boys beat. Anyway, one of my best friends is the flute section leader, and he likes to say that holding my heavy instrument up is A LOT easier than holding his flute up. He even ARGUES it. What the HECK is that about? It's funny cuz I got a call from one of my euphonium freshmen yesterday, and he was crying. I took him weightlifting the other day, and he said he tried to hold the horn up at attention for like five minutes and couldn't do it. Poor lad. I remember how it was when I was a freshmen. I sympathized, but I was firm with him. I said "Evan, this year's a state year, and practices are two hours long. You've gotta be able to hold it up for the whole practice. It's gonna hurt like a mofo, but you've gotta do it. I mean, even halftime is 10 minutes long for us with the drill team music." I love freshmen. They're so helpless. Quote
