Martinbandownsyou06 Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 yes the martin band will go to state and dominate all
Xenon Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Martinbandownsyou06 said: yes the martin band will go to state and dominate all These are the bands that I believe will be in Area B next year: Mansfield Mansfield Summit Mansfield Timberview Arlington Arlington Lamar Arlington Bowie Arlington Martin Arlington Sam Houston Arlington Seguin LD Bell Trinity Haltom Richland Burleson Weatherford Grapevine Colleyville Heritage Newman Smith Creekview RL Turner Lewisville Marcus Flower Mound The Colony Plano Plano East Plano West Allen Out of those, I expect that there will be at least 20 Division I's and so 4 bands should advance to state. These four bands are almost definite locks to advance to state: (Alphabetical order) Haltom LD Bell Marcus Richland And these are on the bubble but won't likely make it: (And at least one of them won't make Area Finals) (No Order) Mansfield Summit Arlington Martin Colleyville Heritage Newman Smith Lewisville Plano East Allen Bubble's for Finals: (No Order) Arlington Seguin Grapevine Creekview The Colony
sax5warrior Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 i expect South Grand Prairie to make some moves next year, especially with things we have done that wasnt done in 10 years, look for SGP to make some serious movement. Im not saying were the best in the business but do expect something out of us next year.

Xenon Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 That's right! I can't believe that I forgot them. Count them as a likely Area Finalist as well.
GuitarJoe Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 does anyone have a listing of the new area placements for the schools for 2006?

sax5warrior Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 looks like region 20 is better then ever...too bad Mansfield ISD leaves region 20
chickora Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Eeps, G-TOWN, LEANDER, and ROUND ROCK?! REGION 26? How sad. *sniff* No more region 18 for me. *sniff*

The only thing that changed was that Mansfield ISD got moved into Region 5 which is a shame for Manfield Summit because it could have been possible for them to make state in Area C, but Area B is so stacked that they don't really stand a chance.
PlayOboe Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 I don't understand this realigment at all. Does it make any sense for the Keller schools and the Midland/Odessa schools to be in the same area?

Well, it all has to do with population figures, basically, they try to even everyone out, and to answer your question Xenon, i dunno...
actualgirltrombone Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 I'm just super psyched for next year because our band's goal is to win state... and thus we must work very hard. YAY!

YAY! Thats a good goal... Compared to all those bands that have set their goal on 7th place.... not 6th or 8th.... But 7th.

Well, some band's goal is just to make Area Finals, or State, or State Finals. Just because your goal isn't necessarily to win it all doesn't mean that it isn't a positive goal, just maybe a realistic one.

sax5warrior Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 im very sure Martin will improve and go to state, i was really impressed by thier sounds!! I was in awe at the DMI competition...also, filled with jelousy believe it or not. But im sure Martin will contend for state
Xenon Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 MartinHorn said: That's a slap in the face. That is not a slap in the face. It is a fact that Area B is so heavily stacked that there will be a lot of good bands that would have made State in most other areas that will not make State from Area B. For example, in 2004 there were 4 State slots from Area B and 5 very serious contenders for those slots. Richland drew the short straw and did not advance to State, but in no way does that mean that Richland was not any good; they had an awesome show and I seriously believe that they would have made State Finals. There are likely to be only 4 State slots from Area B in 2006 as well, and can you seriously see any one of the four bands that I listed not making State? I know it is possible, it is just that when you consider the history and consistency of these programs and you look at the trends of where they will be going in the future, I think that it is highly unlikely. Now, absolutely none of this is knocking the Martin band. Martin has been advancing a tremendous amount lately, but I just can't see it being enough to overtake one of those four bands in the late season. Now, if there is a 5th State slot from Area B (Certainly possible) then I think that Martin has a decent shot at taking it and doing well at State. And none of what I have said is meant to discourage you or any other members of any other bands; I am just stating my opinion of how things stand. I highly encourage you and any other band to prove my predictions wrong as I very much enjoy and am very pleased when a band does better than I thought that they would.
