TRtrumpet Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Yea thats why I like practicing on my sax more cus I can go forever. On the trumpet im wiped after about 2 hours. Quote
the_DRUM_MAJOR Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 i give props to the flutes, after playing only 2 lines of their first etude i was like "yea..ill just go back playing me etudes.." lol..they have alot of octave jumps...especially on their last etude.. Quote
twizzlaar Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 yeah that flute music is crazy! so much ink! i have set goals to practice everyday this break, but i have yet to achieve them i'm going to have to be constantly practicing from now untill december 1st. oh well, my fault for not practicing untill now. TRtrumpet Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Thats the same situation I was in until today. I got alot done. Quote
xMonicax Posted November 26, 2005 Author Posted November 26, 2005 All of the region auditions should be this Thursday, Friday, Saturday, but they should be this week Well..... I had them last week, then we've them again on monday. I'm so new to this, I didn't even make district last year 'cause when I was playing the music I kind of looked off and got distracted then when I looked back at the music I didn't know where I was so I got confused and played a bunch of random notes untill I figured out where I was again >.< made stupid 14th chair. So this year I have noooo idea what I'm doing x_x I'm gonna practice like crazy tomorrow... I have to relearn my stupid scales for semester auditions for school too 'cause I forgot them all Quote
the_DRUM_MAJOR Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 have u heard the flute lady on their demonstration CD...shes like "EVEN I CANT PLAY THESE NOTES" or something like that...lol Quote
arundo Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 I think the decmonstration cd's are hilarious!! Quote
xMonicax Posted November 26, 2005 Author Posted November 26, 2005 I think the decmonstration cd's are hilarious!! Uhhg, where they talk for about half an hour before hand? I couldn't deal with listening to all of it, I just skipped to the music Quote
the_DRUM_MAJOR Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 lol yea, u didnt know? like college professors or students send recordings of themselves playing the etudes to let students have an idea of what the etude sounds like and what they should look at..its like an audio version of the TMEA all-state etude guide, but more in depth..plus the recording of the etude at full tempo and practice tempo. i think one of the saxes has a CD...i can try to copy it on here..ill let you know Quote
mindfulmusician Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 lol...God Bless those TMEA CD's. I did nothing but listen to that CD, and practice hard-core for about a week, and I was able to snag a chair at District. I think most of us seniors got senioritis, which I kinda regret. Yeah...but oh well. I still need to practice those etudes...for some reason I think they're really fun...but that's just me. - mm Quote
TRtrumpet Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 So heres a question cus this is my first time doin this. If you make region do you have to try out again to make area and then state, or how does that work. I know you have a concert. Quote
chickora Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 So heres a question cus this is my first time doin this. If you make region do you have to try out again to make area and then state, or how does that work. I know you have a concert. Yes, my dear. That's how it works. In order to make state you will have to try out 3 with a total of 3 times. One for each try out? You understand? Quote
the_DRUM_MAJOR Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 well for 4a, in my region, theres a pre-area tryout so you dont have to make region to advance, unless youre in the 5a track..good luck on that one lol, but theres pre-area for 4a and then the 4a AREA Final round in january, three valve, try asking Brian Ngo or LordGiggles for the recordings, they may get it to you faster than i can Quote
TRtrumpet Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Yes, my dear. That's how it works. In order to make state you will have to try out 3 with a total of 3 times. One for each try out? You understand? Do you try out with the same music everytime? well for 4a, in my region, theres a pre-area tryout so you dont have to make region to advance, unless youre in the 5a track..good luck on that one lol, but theres pre-area for 4a and then the 4a AREA Final round in january, three valve, try asking Brian Ngo or LordGiggles for the recordings, they may get it to you faster than i can I got my uncle to get me one, thanks for lookin though. wooh im proud to say that i can play through all the etudes and scales now... finally. sax5warrior Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 great, now i have ran into a barrier, i might not go because im in 3rd band and my band director is now questioning my musical skills just because he put me in 3rd band last school year and im trying to get his signature for the waiver.(failed incase you didnt kno)We saxes didnt get any of those TMEA CDs and now....grrrrrrr im frustrated rite now...i was committed to this region thing since August and im not ready to give it up just because he doubts me. TRtrumpet Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 dude that sucks, maybe you can prove him wrong by telling him you wanna play it for him to show him you can do it? Quote
sax5warrior Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 dude that sucks, maybe you can prove him wrong by telling him you wanna play it for him to show him you can do it? and the most frustrating thing is that i kno im better then 1 person whos in symphonic band and he doesnt give a crap about all region, he didnt show up to sectionals like 3 times, and i showed up in all of them, he got cut once, only to be placed again because he begged my band director to let him have a 2nd chance, he doesnt play in sectionals, and...well...its just frustrating...and him to be in 2nd band and me being in 3rd Quote
the_DRUM_MAJOR Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 yea its the same music everytime except that the cuts they give are diffrent, at area finals its going to be liek 60 percent of the music, and if you make all-state then you tryout on cuts from the concert music that they will be performing, when are your tryouts? Quote
TRtrumpet Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Me or him? Mine are saturday in San Diego. so how much of the song do you think you'll have to play for just a region tryout? Quote
