Xenon Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 There is absolutely no doubt in my mind. Spring 2000: Open up the pit and rush the stands!!! 2nd place for me is LD Bell 2006, both their BOA San Antonio creepy ending with the guard banging on the back wall and their GN Finals surprise ending with the jaw dropping white silk. takigan 1 Quote

Can't remember if I ever posted one of the old hype threads from 2006 about that show. A fun reread. http://www.txbands.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1917-ld-bell-ge-you-wouldnt-notice/page-1 Quote
Sorge Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Since DCI was included... New World Symphony, Defiant Heart, and Spartacus; all by Phantom Regiment. I honestly think that, for high school, my band's closer this year. I'm not biased, I just personally find it pretty awesome. Quote
knoxisawesome348 Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Kennesaw Mountain 2006. The whole show was pretty corny with the constant voiceovers, but when they form the star out of nowhere and have the massive hit... just chills on chills. I also really liked The Woodlands' 2007 ending. Very original show. Quote
Statebound Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Stole my thunder on the LDB 2010 closer but the other one that came to mind was the Hebron "Young person guide to the Orchestra" closer at the state marching band contest in 2012. Mostly I remember two players (a flute and sax I think) that were playing maybe 40 yards apart from each other and perfectly in time. I'm sure that one is floating around on Youtube somewhere. Quote
azn Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Lloyd V. Berkner High School 2012: H to O Water Journey ending at the UIL State Marching contest when we used the Giant Cloth to cover the band :3 I like the blue coats ending for their 2014 show it was awesome xD Quote

snares Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Here is Hebrons 2012 state show. I also cannot find Marcus. Anyone know where I can find their 2012 show? (Hebron 2012) Quote
abdrum Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Sherman 2003 Closer, "When a Man loves a Women" Quote
snares Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 My favorite dci closer is probably not a common favorite, it's Phantoms 2011 closer "Elsa's Procession". I can't explain how beautiful that ending is. If you haven't seena video you need to Quote
Popular Post LKendrick Posted October 24, 2014 Popular Post Posted October 24, 2014 I know Medea's probably been overly used and abused by pretty much every band out there, but Cedar Park's 2008 "On Edge" closer version, at least in the high school level, is by far my favorite performance of it. Cedar Park's always been pretty run and gun, blow your face off intense, but that show is the pinnacle of that for them. I'll throw in another vote for LD Bell 2000 "King of Kings" closer, the crowd reaction's pretty fun to watch, and the velocity of the drill leading into the last few moves is always fun to watch. Also for 2006's Grand Nationals ending, that whole show still hits me the way it did the first time. As far as out of state, Marian Catholic's 2012 show "My Brothers Keeper" has VERY quickly jumped to the top of my all time favorite high school show lists. It's not a feel good show for the most part, focusing on the idea from the bible concerning Cain discussing the fact that people are not able to accept responsibility and welfare for their fellow man. There's a Trombone smear from heck in there, the whole show's pretty......dark. The closing narration from MLKs Vietnam Speech whilst the band and guard forms a peace sign inside a circle of statues representing soldiers, holocaust victims, ect. is pretty......breathtaking. That band, is not afraid to put on a show to make you think or has a message they believe in, I mean, their 2011 show dealt with the Crucifixion, and I love that about them, they're not afraid of what topic they choose. 2013 was a little more uplifting and easier to swallow, love the crowd reaction at nationals to it. Haha. Really enjoyed Avon's "Turn to Stone" closer last year as well. Also, Cedar Ridge's vocal soloist singing Whitacre's "Goodnight Moon" last year in unison with the band is pretty stunning as well, love that identity they've created for themselves. jmj, takigan, principalagent and 1 other 4 Quote
jmatthews Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Since DCI counts, this is one of my favorites recently. Quote
abdrum Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 My favorite loser BY FAR was Bowie's closer last year with "Let it Be" by the Beatles. I saw them perform it in the rain at Westlake Marching Festival and it gave me goosebumps like no music has ever before. Very orchestral. Quote
