HHSBaSsTrOmBoNe'09 Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 on the topic of procrastination... our section leader (whos name shall remain untold) got us our section shirts normally used for marching season got them to us at the end of the year for graduation... AND it looks like its about to happen again... Quote

Salesmonkey Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 We do that...alot. Its happened to me once and ive done it to someone. Its quite amusing. Quote
HHSBaSsTrOmBoNe'09 Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 i'm actually wondering how well the trumpets and mellos are going to take it... Quote
Salesmonkey Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 They sit two rows in front of us so they escape most of it. Quote
johnnypotatoes Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I once dropped my slide on the field, and it happened to be my first football game. it was 2 years ago (my freshman year) and the brass and woodwinds were meshing together and pulling apart and a sax player hit the back of my trombone and knocked my slide off. it took about 2 pages to get it back on. it sucked. also, later that same year, i was running across the field to get to a set and pulled a superman. my horn went flying and it skidded about 15 yards. i myself went about 5 yards. it hurt, but only a screw came out from my trigger and there was some scratches on my bone. i also (that same year, what horrible luck) fused my horn together by accidentally slamming it against the ground. Salesmonkey Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Last year someone broke his horn in half in the stands. No joke. Quote

johnnypotatoes Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 in the stands? how? last year, someone tripped and broke his in half during practice, but in the stands? Quote
Salesmonkey Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Not sure exactly how it hapenned. Was being introduced to the other band at the time. Came back and his horn was in two pieces. Cost him like $300 to fix it. On another note some lady ran over one our freshmen's case today. Now we have to put them at the front side line like all the other sections. Quote
RobinsonSax07 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Our trompones are anything but slackers. The section leader is a 3 time All-State Trombone (will be 4 years after this year) and they play all the solos in the stands on friday nights. 6 of them even play exit music after our show this year. They are the only section to actually win section of the week this year as well. The best section in our band by far. Quote
Salesmonkey Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 We are a combination of slackers and the most hardcore section. Lately its been more of the latter. We put all our cases and water on the opposite side of the field(well till today when one got ran over...) as a way to build up the unity of the section. And therefore have had to run the length of the field to the back sidelines for water breaks and still manage to be the first section back on the field most of the time. Quote
CBHSThe_King Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Our section used to be the most badass section of the band, but then Foster took over, and we went downhill from there. Now we're just a bunch of slackers, despite my best efforts. Quote

Um, at least you get a water break.. We don't get one anymore. We haven't gotton one for weeks.. But I had a camel back so =/ Quote
t3hZm4n Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 How many in here plan to try out for region (and potentially all-state)? I know I do Quote

twhstbone Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 OK back to the lost slide conversation... there was this one tromebonist i was told that lost his slide in the middle of GN Finals, and a judge picked it up. And gave it back. Quote
Salesmonkey Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Lol. That was nice of him. Bet that kid will never hear the end of it from the rest of the section though. Quote

johnnypotatoes Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 ok, so this is off topic, but i found this online and thought it was weird. getting in trouble for eating with a spoon and fork instead of a knife and a fork? wtf? anyways...thought this was weird. whatever. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...?hub=TopStories Quote
zackee Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Yeah... justa little strange. Dude, I tried playing on of the bass bone etudes on my friends bass bone, it was ccrazzzy. When I was waiting at region, I was talking to some bass bones, and one of them had a very acurate description of it. He said "It's like someone took a shotgun and shot a peice of paper, and then said Hey! Let's make it an etude out of this. I had to share that. I thought it was hilarious. Quote

I never have to use a slide. we use baritones. That way we don't bang into people when we're two inches apart. Quote
