bonepit06-07 Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 T-bone player and officer of the Conally band in Austin i hv to say our section rocks any way has anyone gone to TBA and layed on the schilke 51 D SYMPHONIC and/or played on their new trombone that should hv been manufactured by now? Quote
t3hZm4n Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Man, my section is gonna be kinda weak this year. Sure, we have 3 returning all-staters, but the section keeps getting smaller and smaller, made even smaller by the fact that I'm a drum major. We had 35 trombones my freshman year, and now we're down to like 18 or 19 ;_; Quote
actualgirltrombone Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Our trombone section had 16 people on the field last year. =/ Quote
Salesmonkey Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 We only have 12 total, 9 marching this year. 4 Seniors, 1 Junior, 1 Sophomore, and 6 freshmenz. :/ Quote

bonepit06-07 Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 oh and btw we only march nine Trombones thats our whole section so if anybody wants to transfer and help us out feel free to do so!!!!!!!!!! lol Quote
Salesmonkey Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 That is how many trombone spots we have this year. 3 are alternates that dont march competitions. Quote
bonepit06-07 Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 so what do yall think of this years region/all state music? Quote
Salesmonkey Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Technically speaking it seems much easier than anything in the last 4 years. Though that just means that it must be performed at a much higher level to advance. It will be interesting to see how auditions go. Quote
t3hZm4n Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 I don't particularly like this year's music. The lack of technical difficulty is kind of a turnoff for me. Combine that with the fact that I'm having to spend lots of time on a college audition tape instead of practicing my region music, and I get the feeling I probably won't be making State again this year... =[ Quote
bonepit06-07 Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 I actually met the guy who selected the music on Monday while UT was exbitioning at our district festival of bands. and he said that he picked it out to see who can play musically so i can see why technically its really easy. Quote

Yeah, my lesson teacher (who was one of Brickens' students prior to getting his doctorate) says he understands why Brickens picked those pieces, but at the same time that they make for pretty crappy region music, and the judges probably won't be able to differentiate based on musicality, which completely defeats the purpose of the etudes... bonepit06-07 Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 even though technically its easy youll be suprised how many will miss a few rhythms here and there and see how people add eight notes and sixteenth notes here and there where they dont belong Quote

beachnutc2c Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 this year at the REGIONALS i lost my mouthpiece at the very beginning of the show.... We went to Ready position (the position between check and playing, since ive seen it called diffrent things in diffrent bands) and i guess i went to ready way to hard and my jaw nearly hit the floor as i peered upon a mouthpieceless trombone... like 4 seconds later i see this shiney white thing fly about 4 feet in front of me and plop onto the ground. I have never been so tempted to pick something up off the ground in my life... thank god i dident. Quote
Barry Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Do all trombones have the same region music throughout the state or is it just within your region? Quote
Dualitybone09 Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Barry said: Do all trombones have the same region music throughout the state or is it just within your region? Trombones have the same music throughout the state (That includes differencing in Classes such as 4A and 5A) BUT Bass Trombones and Tenor Trombones have different music. If thats not clear (Because i worded it weird) i can explain it. Quote
bonepit06-07 Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 its the same with all instruments the music is the same throughout the state... what do u guys think about the CD and btw t3 who is ur lesson teacher? Quote
