It was so cool/funny to see someone beat Marcus for once. I hope Richland does well too. Obviously. #rebelsrule I think Richland well do well. Im excited on the show and the refocus of the program. azn Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 It would be a great privilege for our band to make it into the BOA Denton Finals. Also, luckily this year there is no slightest chance for any rain to happen unlike last year's BOA Allen and the BOA Denton 2 years ago. Quote

But CTJ and Reagan traveled pretty far for a regional. But eh, whatevs. Quote

In 2002 it poured rain all day long damaging a number of instruments and causing quite the ruckus. They ended up cancelling finals and it was decided after that to move finals into a dome. So his analogy is apt. azn 1 Quote

azn Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Regardless of the weather, This is going to be a fierce competition Nin10doGuy77 1 Quote
Mellophone5 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I think mansfield legacy wake land and Richland are competing for the top of the AAA class and it should be very close between these three azn and Proston 2 Quote
Fned88 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 6 out of the top 7 bands from Area B will be at this competition. Quote
Jackson1 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 It will be a battle. Hebron will be tough. They will place high just not sure how high. Marcus sounds great as usual. Bell may or may not need more time. I think we will see some surprises at this regional. Coppell, Haltom, Berkner, Wakeland, Richland and Flower Mound may make some noise there. I am looking forward to seeing all of these bands compete for the first time this year. The other bands I don't know very well. I am looking forward to seeing it. Good luck to all of the bands competing next week!!!!!! Quote

Marcus is always a class act and am interested in seeing what they bring, as well. Heck...I can't wait to see as many of them as I can!!! What a fun competition! Bring on the bands...and can I just mention how much I love the crowds at competitions? It's band fever! woo Quote
Percplayer19 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Richland always does well at Regional and will make some noise this year. After last year at SA the band really needed to make changes going forward. Quote
bandnerd30456 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 You can't count James Martin out! They're on their way up Quote

snares Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I'm not quite sure how Marcus will do because their show this year is heavily created for a UIl State competition. I would expect them to do very well at state, but probably not as well as at a BOA even this year. I also am kindof feeling a suprise winner like flower mound or a band of that stage. Anyone know what flower mounds show is? Quote
Jackson1 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I agree but you could say that for any band. It will be an interesting regional. It truly is anyone's competition to win. I hope all bands bring it hard on Saturday!!! We shall see........ Quote

Let me say that Marcus had a show designed to be extremely successful at UIL in 2006, 08, 10 and 12, and at state they were successful wining four straight state championships. Those same years at BOA San Antonio they came in 3rd in 2006, 2nd in 2008 and won the regional championship in 2010 and 2012 sweeping all captions. In 2012 winning by around 3 points. Marcus knows how to design a show to win UIL and BOA arguably better than any other band in class 5a, now 6a, over the last 8 years, with the only exception being LD Bell. Never count out Marcus on a state year in either BOA or UIL. principalagent and Statebound 2 Quote
Jackson1 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Heck I wouldn't count Marcus out of anything music related. State year or not. I think they are a big reason why Texas bands are so great. They have all wanted to beat Marcus for the past decade. And to beat Marcus.....well let's just say you can't rely on luck. Looking forward to seeing their whole show on Saturday. Quote
Statebound Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I'll take Richland and Flower Mound as my wild cards for Saturday. You never know what those two are going to put on the field but it's going to be creative and well choreographed. There's a good chance that one or both will place high. Quote
Xenon Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Yes, we'll be running the live blog, assuming there is electricity. I just got electricity back this morning and there are still many neighborhoods all across DFW after that storm that still don't. I hope that everyone is safe. Quote
