XMenAlum Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 What did y'all think of BOA Austin? I was fortunate enough to be able to attend and was sad to see Westlake and Vista Ridge not make finals because they are definitely high-caliber bands. But that was really a testament to the bands that did make finals and was amazing! Quote
NickTheDrummer Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 It was a fantastic event. What an impressive lineup! Quote
RenMacnary Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I was sitting in front of two of the Reagan directors when Cedar Ridge played. Turned to them and said: "They aren't afraid of the Big Hits, are they?" Vista Ridge was 11th, Westwood 12th, Westlake 13th, Aledo 14th, James A. Taylor 15th and Pflugerville 16th in prelims. No one saw Westwood, I was there with about 60 others watching Cuero start off things at 9:15 with Westwood at 9:30. I watched every performance except Ronald Reagan....what a day. GREAT Bands, really a fine day! NickTheDrummer 1 Quote
Trumpetplayer1231 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I believe that Cedar Ridge's show will be great. It is not the show that looks great in September but come BOA SoCal, they will be great. They have an incredible staff with new additions. They added a Blue Coats visual guy, a Cavaliers color guard guy, a Boston Crusaders visual guy, a Boston Crusaders color guard guy , and the Vandergrift Band Director from last year. They are going to be one of the top bands in the nation come November. Thenamesgrapejuice and Trumpetplayer1231 2 Quote

scoobydoo Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 No he's not one of the band directors. Jeremy Spicer is part of a leadership organization called Sasi. He is working with them in some capacity but not as a director. justabandkid94 1 Quote
whitewing09 Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I was pretty surprised that Westlake didn't make finals given their history, but I watched their show. It looks really difficult. It will be pretty great at the end of the season. principalagent and guardgirl17 2 Quote

They've kicked it in gear, and after seeing them at Westlake Marching Festival, I'm sure by the end of the season they'll be great! It's definitely a hard show, if they can pull it off, they've got a good chance of making it to state. Bonelife 1 Quote
