mbui Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 QUOTE (euro_euph06 @ Nov 27 2005, 09:43 AM) Top Ten-BOA Churchill The Woodlands Brazoswood James Bowie Cedar Park L.D. Bell Richland Marcus Haltom Westfield Good list... But, there are two other bands that I would include under the BOA section....Ronald Reagan & Stephen F. Austin. Quote

If we have the same exact year as we did this year.. It's a possibility we will beat CP, and that's if they don't get any better. We'll see. Quote

I mean, it was well over UIL's 8 minutes and they were playing and marching (similar to Reagan) before the real show started. This is a state year for 5A, so you might expect a more conventional, and thus competitive show. Quote
chickora Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 I was referring that we are getting better. Hoping that we will do pretty close to them. I wasn't saying that they sucked this year or anything. I completely understand that. Hoping that I guard will be more stable this year because we just got a new guard director, maybe our visual will be better this coming year..and work on cleaning it more. I can't wait to see what Cedar Park has in for us. I director lives in CP, real close to the high school. Plus, his son is a coach for the football team at CP. I am sure we will get feedback from him. Quote
sax5warrior Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 i expect the same bands that were successful this year to repeat again next year, im predicting Coppell would rise to the top again next year. Quote

Fortisimo Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 I suspect that Copell can... oh, wait, that's not appropriate... lmao, well, what about Richland as well? They seem to have done pretty well for themselves... Quote

Fortisimo Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Well there ya go. We tied them at Area last year, and we have both improved tons since then, so I guess we'll see how that turns out. Quote
QuadraticBeats Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Definitely... NOT US! I expect our drumline to keep getting alot better, but as far as the band... it's probably going to be a sad repetition of our stupidity from last year. Hard drill + moderately difficult music - marching fundamentals - dedicated players + overall lack of leadership=crap. (By lack of leadership I mean that an unfortunate number of people thought being section leader translated to superiority and disciplinarian authority... yelling about people screwing up but not really doing anything to assist their victims in getting better) They said we were going to work on them every day this year. I'd say asides from band camp, our total fundamental practice at rehearsal for the entire marching season, in actuality, totaled 1-2 hours... drumline 3-4. What do they expect to happen with a bunch of people who have weak fundamentals? We tend to do a strange little thing I like to call "charging" while marching- little tiny step-off, very large steps, and then very small steps when we realize we're overshooting. It's pretty bad. We probably would've made 4A Area finals also if it weren't for our band director placing alternates who had to learn the show in 2 weeks to compete in it... and not only did they have to do that, but their marching fundamentals were non-existent. One of them that most of us have a fond dislike of, or "BO" as we call him, apparently kept marking time 3 beats after the hold. If we had a chance to make finals with what we had, it was killed there. Quote

With Marcus taking both music and visual caption at the most fierce Texas competition this year, I don't see why they would barely "penetrate" the UIL block? Also keeping in mind UIL is based solely on music and marching. Gotta give credit where credit is due. Quote
coolest_kid_ever Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 based on what youve seen and heard no just last year but in the many years before, who does everyone think has the strength to make finals @ state? Quote
Danpod Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 Thank you for a show idea.......Laura freakin' rules =) Quote

Martinbandownsyou06 Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 yeah marcus's colorguard was quite annoying as they were pecking the field. I'm interested to see what reagan and churchill put out next year Quote
MartinHorn Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I hear Brazoswood has an amazing sound so I hope I get to see them next year. Quote
actualgirltrombone Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I really look forward to see what brazoswood is gonna do next year. their sound was AMAZING and i met some of their band members, who were really nice. Quote
membername Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 I see Marcus doing very well at State Marching...I think they will make finals for sure, maybe even a top 5 contender...maybe. Before everyone jumps down my throat, keep in mind how much they have improved year after year since 2001 and in 04 at their first time at state we managed to wink 12th...def. going to make finals. As for BOA, I'd like to see them win one...but I reckon they'll do about the same as we did last year, maybe alittle better. Quote
Moose Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 I would really like to see Leander bring it back next year. I really enjoyed the 05 show, and really expected it to place better than 30th at BOA SA. Another band that has been on the rise lately is Judson. I expect great things from them in 06. Quote
bluebellbrass07 Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Id love to see coppel make finals this year. i thought they shouldve, made it last year. and i loved the show in 05. hope martin can at least make it to state this year after being so close the past few. other than that im just really looking forward to the comp.
