Popular Post snares Posted October 28, 2014 Popular Post Posted October 28, 2014 Honesty my favorite part of watching competitions isn't necessarily the battle between the big dawgz like CTJ, Woodlands, Bowie, Marcus, etc. I mean those are fun to watch, but I just love it when a band with around 50 kids goes out and has a performance that just makes everyone smile. I love it when a band of that size can make a crowd cheer almost as loudly as they would for the bigger schools. It amazing to see! thatbrown_guyy, lasvegasmonkey, euphtroopmom and 2 others 5 Quote

Sounds like a money making opportunity to me! They post videos after marching season is over. No money to be made there. Jackson1 and Bowie Clarinet Mom (2015) 2 Quote
LKendrick Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 I'd love for Hendrickson to make finals......they have a VERY well put together show and if they perform like they did in that Area Prelims video.....I think they can do it. We'll see, the crowd reaction at the end is just awesome. guardgirl17 1 Quote
Spencenlevi Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Top Five I think will be: 1.) Leander 2.) Hebron 3.) CTJ 4.) Bowie 5.) The Woodlands Quote

I think hebron probably has music locked up, maybe CTj. But you never know! Maybe bell comes back firing Marcus won Music in UIL by a landslide over Hebron. The Visual is nice but music is where they will make a push if not dominate. Quote

I admire the program that probably will not raise an eyebrow or be on the radar of the bigger program, but they go out there and perform. Just to make semi-finals would be a thrill for most schools. My hats off to those schools, keep the failh! Quote
Jackson1 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 I am curious how you know it was a "landslide" in music? Do you have the scores? Not doubting it just surprised it would be a "landslide". I thought Hebron's music was much more difficult and better executed in finals then Marcus's was. Both were awesome!! Quote

I heard Hebron and Marcus were neck and neck in music, each with 2nd's and 1st's, and Marcus was 1st from both visual judges. And I bet if you look at the 1 - 1,000 composite score that gave the rankings, they were probably really close. Comparing Marcus and Hebron, using the world landslide in any aspect just isn't true, they're both amazing programs that are going to be close at State and San Antonio neither is drastically better or worse than the other. Both phenomenal. Quote
LKendrick Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Lake Ridge, especially considering they're in that last block is my wild card. World of Pageantry isn't working so I can't get scores directly, but they've been doing even better this year than last year, they've beaten and been very close to some pretty esteemed programs this fall. Their "Paranormal" show is pretty cool, full throttle run and gun in your face like last year, just up a few notches in difficulty and it seems performance. principalagent 1 Quote
Jackson1 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 That is why I asked. I just can't see one that much better then the other in music. From what I saw they were even. Both spectacular music wise. The word landslide just caught my attention. Just can't see that. Quote

Both bands are great but if you have some info please share. Quote

I have seen both twice now and hebron has a great all around show. I truly believe better then marcus for BOA as a whole but marcus plays so clean and with control. My opinion. Landslide may have been a poor choice of words but i believe that Marcus will win the Music Caption. Quote
Jackson1 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Fair enough. Actually that tied in music. 2 1 2 for Marcus and 1 3 1 for Hebron. Final scores 7 and 9. It will be close this weekend. Quote
snares Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 I know that marcus had beat hebron by a fair amount (4-6 points i believe) in prelims. And I agrreed with that. Hebron didn't have a very strong performance. But in finals, I actjally though Hebron would've won, that was such an emotional and powerful performance. But the judges are the ones who give the scores. Quote
Jackson1 Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 1 2 1 3 1 M. 8 3 1 2 4 2 H. 12 Prelims 2 1 2 1 1 M. 7 1 3 1 2 2 H. 9 Finals Quote
lasvegasmonkey Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Churchill didn't even make it to finals in Area, so I think they will be a bubble band. I think Pflugerville or Anderson would be a better fit for one of the final spots. (Probably Anderson over Pflugerville) Quote

thatbrown_guyy Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 I am really excited to see all the scores this weekend at SA. Like it would be really exciting ( and I wouldn't be surprised at all), if places 1-5 were all within 1 point of each other. There is no clear winner!! Countdown to BOA! It's gonna be one for the books!! Quote
