Of all this group I like Richland just because it has a very consistent history of high performance in big time contest in BOA Regionals and Super-Regional events. Birdville is also a good choce to advance. Of the others I have not seen them in the bigger contest so I could not possible rate them.

I like Poteet's show. It is really good and so I think the Sachse band has a great show. I haven't seen the others but I am sure they are just as good.

Both prelims and finals results would've looked much different, there was one judge who clearly wasn't agreeing with the rest of them in the scores. He was disagreeing with geniuses like Dr. Shine from Duncanville and Scott Coulson from Poteet (both retired) by 4+ margins.

All five of the music/marching judges from this contest have won a state championship, whether it be marching or Honor Band.  They have also been in finals of both multiple times.  It's not like any of them is under-qualified, and it certainly isn't uncommon for judges to look for or listen for different things, after all.  In the end, all the differences mean is that the bands you're looking at didn't execute their playing and marching styles well enough to overcome native disapproval (such as Dr. Shine hating straight-leg marching technique because he thinks it can't be made to look the same from person to person).

Just for the record, I'd like to note that Duncanville has been increasingly more straight-leg every year for a little over a decade, even while Dr. Shine was still directing the marching band.

Yea, he was a sub judge supposedly, don't know where he's from though. He had a few bands that made Top 6 not even in the Top 10 in Prelims, like Richland for example. Of course it's only Visual and not something like Music but that big of a margin is just really fishy

Discrepancies happen, each judge could be watching, hearing, experiencing a whole other thing than another judge.  I've stopped criticizing judges until I have the qualifications to do so.
