I really would have loved to see a 5th band such as North Mesquite make it out of Area C. Xenon 1 Quote
BlackJesus Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I think everyone familiar with the area and the bands that perform here were really hoping for 25 bands, but unfortuntely it didn't happen. Back in 2012 there was a notable difference in the scoring from North Mesquite and the other 4 State Contenders (Berkner, Rowlett, Coppell, and Duncanville) if I remember corectly. Fast forward to now, the amount of improvement by North is tremendous. As a result, 1 band that is definitely a State-Caliber band will not get to attend this year IMHO, best of luck to everyone in Area and Go Stallions! As for my opinions on Finals Results: *Know nothing about their season so far/have not seen show/both 1) Berkner 2) Rowlett 3) Coppell* 4) North Mesquite 5) Duncanville* 6) Lake Highlands 7) Highland Park 8) Midlothian* 9) JJ Pearce 10) John Horn Bands that could also take Finalist spots: -Sachse -Garland -Lakeview Centennial -Mesquite Quote
rtrezza Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 My opinion Strictly on the shows I have seen Top 3 not sure the order because it changes from year to year Rowlett, Berkner, Coppell the reason Duncanville in my opinion will not be in the top three their show this year isnt like the Duncanville the I remember to have really cool and innovative drill and difficult music. Their music this year is beautiful but the marching seems to be a step back from the previous years. Other Finalist 4 -10 Duncanville North Mesquite Lake Highlands Midlothian Highland Park Sachse On the Bubble to Make Finals JJ Pearse Mesquite Quote
bxOxAxUIL Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I feel like Area C isn't as impressive as it used to be, does anyone else feel the same way? Quote
willscott1996 Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 After seeing Duncanville, Berkner and Coppell, I know they will be filling three of the four spots. After seeing Rowlett though... The question is, will Rowlett claim the fourth spot? They are having a decent season but no where near what it was two years ago, or even last year. North Mesquite has lost quite a few great players and in my opinion it's questionable as to if they can knock off Rowlett and advance to state. That fourth spot for state is up for grabs by Lake Highlands, Rowlett, North Mesquite, Lakeview Centennial, JJ Pearce, Sachse and Midlothian, who all made Area Finals in 2012, though a lot can change in two years. It will be interesting to see who can claim that fourth spot. My personal predictions for Finals: 1) Berkner 2) Duncanville 3) Coppell 4) North Mesquite 5) Rowlett (can't really decide 4th and 5th...) 6) Lake Highlands 7) Lakeview Centennial 8) Midlothian 9) Sachse 10) JJ Pearce Quote
Donezo Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 On the contrary, I caught Rowlett at Region and thought they were really and truly fantastic. They're probably going to advance. Unfortunately, I think North will be the odd man out again, which is a shame because they are really quite good once again. It's too bad one more band couldn't get a 1st division! Quote
Brassman82 Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 I was at the competition yesterday. In my opinion, Duncanville was better than Coppell. They were overall more clean. If everyone is saying Coppell has a great shot in getting a medal, I think Duncanville does too. Quote
rtrezza Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 anyone know the ranging numbers for all of the finalist? Quote
