ben_thatdrummer Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Does anybody have a roster of which groups are going to be performing? Any soloist/finalist predictions? Quote
Percussionization Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Round Rock is going this time, however, Cedar Ridge will not due to BOA in California. Quote
snares Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 I haven't really been paying attention to drumlines but you can always say that Flowermound will be up there in the marching division Quote
Percplayer19 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Richland will be there and looking for #1 Quote
ben_thatdrummer Posted October 30, 2014 Author Posted October 30, 2014 I know that alot of the LISD groups are going to this contest- Cedar Park, Leander, Vista Ridge, Rouse, Vandegrift(?) How do you think these powerhouse bands drumline's will stack up with the other consistently strong lines? Also- if FlowerMound is in the marching division they will not be competing for a finals spot with Round Rock, Richland, John Horn, Leander, Cedar Park, etc. Quote
snares Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Usually Flowermound kinda blows away the competition last year but 4 or 5 points. At least that's what I have seen when they win. They also have marching drumlines like the Plano schools, lake highlands, and hebron to compete with, so we will see where that lines up Quote
ben_thatdrummer Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 The contest schedule has been announced! Silver 1 looks like some steep competition! Any predictions? Quote

Samuel Culper Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Can somebody explain the different divisions, stadium vs indoor, etc? Quote
ben_thatdrummer Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 Silver and red are determined by the size of a drumline. If a group exceeds 20 people then they are in the silver division-if less than they are in the red division. Within both red and silver there are divisions 1 & 2, and this is determined based on skill level. Directors get to choose wether to compete in division 1 or 2 (1 being higher than 2). The marching division is seperate from the silver and red (standstill) divisions. Finals is the top 5 silver 1 standstill groups. Quote
ben_thatdrummer Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 As far as my own personal finals predictions- i think that John Horn will be in finals for sure, but otherwise there are no finals locks. Some groups I think have a shot at filling the last 4 spots are: Plano East Round Rock Cedar Park Vista Ridge Vandegrift Leander Richland Quote
Percplayer19 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Richland was second to John Horn at the Plano Drumline and both should be in finals. Quote

Take Five is one of the greatest jazz pieces ever. I loved how they progressed from learning beginning percussion to advanced percussion throughout the show....simply amazing and original. I loved the Take Five melody on the marimba and vibes, too....sounded great!! Incredibly proud of Richland!!! Great showing out there for our kids....they're only going to get better. Congrats to all of the drumlines....that was a great contest. The skill level on the field yesterday was mind-boggling...it's so hard to believe that these kids are 14-18 years old!!! Quote
Percplayer19 Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Congats to Richland. Tough competition for this young group. They will be even better next year. Quote
