Samuel Culper Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 If Vegas were handicapping this event it seems like it would be CTJ, O'Connor and the Field. Am I wrong? alamodad 1 Quote
principalagent Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I would throw Wagner and maybe Harlingen in that group too, but pretty much. Quote
takigan Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 I'd put Harlingen over O'Connor actually...Clear Creek as well. Johnson will probably set a point gap record at this regional for 1st. Then it'll be Harlingen, then Clear Creek (13th @ BOA Conroe last year, right behind Morton Ranch and Dawson) with O'Connor in 4th. Actually, a part of me wants to put CC in 2nd.That's the first tier, which I think will stand alone. Beyond that I have a group that consists of RGC, Roma, Wagner, Edinburg, Hanna and maybe Sharyland for finals? Yeah... Quote
beowulf Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 CTJ might not be as dominant as expected, though they will probaby win over this field.. They lost a lot of brass talent due to graduation, plus they're dealilng with a personal tragedy. The next four, I think, will be CC, Wagner, Harlingen, and O'Connor, unsure of order. Quote

Every time I hear someone talk about a huge graduating class, lots of age outs in DCI, or whatever, they're always just as good or better. They obviously have an extremely talented teaching staff and a set of designers that more than knows what they're doing. And as far as a personal tragedy, don't know what you're talking about, but whatever it entails, they get through it and everyone is ok. thebashful15 Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 My top 3 in alphabetical order: CTJ Harligen O'Connor Also regarding the loss of brass talent and the personal tragedy: the johnson band program is very deep. They have new members step up every single year, more than capable of continuing the Ctj legacy. As for the personal tragedy, if anything it would motivate the band members to keep moving forward and be successful this season. If there's one thing that you would not want as rival band to ctj, it is to give them a purpose. A purpose to work even harder than last year. Unfortunately the purpose stemmed from the tragedy, but i do believe that Johnson will be just as dominant this year, if not more, than last year. alamodad 1 Quote
alamodad Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 while CTJ is dealing with some personal tragedy, they will be stronger and feed off this as a motivator for their season out of respect. they have a very difficult show that will take time to mature, but they have a very talented staff that will guide them through the process. no disrespect intended, but CTJ will walk away from this show with all captions and first place overall - the competition is just not there to challenge them Quote
Chupacabra1222 Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 As someone with a good knowledge of this area I'd say that these bands are a good bet for finals in no order: CTJ Harlingen O'Connor Wagner Clear Creek Hanna United South Harlingen South Edinburg North Sharyland Quote
Band2013 Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 There is no doubt in my mind that CTJ will dominate here. Last year super regional champion will not go down easily. Visually they are competitive on a BOA level while other groups have never been to a BOA competition. Quote
