LKendrick Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Is the James Bowie attending "THE" James Bowie? I remember last year in the predictions I predicted a James Bowie that wasn't the Austin one and it kinda tanked me. Quote

bandperson1997 Posted October 4, 2015 Author Posted October 4, 2015 Anyone have new predictions after Austin and Conroe? Quote

I definitely expect Reagan to be in the top 3 after Conroe, they were in my top 5 before, but now I could see them beating out LISD bands and maybe Bowie. As for Bowie, despite their placement at Austin, I still think they'll do well. The difficulty of their show is much higher than it has been in years previous, and their musical package is killer. I'm most interested to see how the battle of the LISD bands plays out over the season. My top 5 is still Reagan, Bowie, Leander, Cedar Park, and Vandergrift. As for the order, I have no darn idea. natertater21000 1 Quote
Cris Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 I am so excited for Ronald Reagan! I came to follow them since their show 3 years ago at Grand Nats! They are amazing! As for Bowie's music and drill, I heard that too about it being the hardest in recent years. That being said, when it is finished it will be interesting to see the scores. They have a phenomenal program. What a year for Texas bands! Quote
dylan123 Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 interested to see how this turns out.. we are getting closer to BOA SA Quote
dylan123 Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 predictions 1. Leander 2. Ronald Reagan 3. James Bowie 4. Cedar Park 5. Friendswood 6. Vandegrift 7. Vista Ridge 8. Anderson Quote
kristy Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Where does McNeil figure in? Do they have a chance to make finals? A proud parent wants to know.... :-) Quote
Chupacabra1222 Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Look out for Stevens.... They are a very good group that most may not know. I'm betting they'll be in finals around 8-10 Quote
Jellyfishes Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I expect James Bowie, Cedar Park, Vandegrift, Leander, and Reagan will be the top five with a score gap in between. Maybe Friendswood or Vista Ridge could challenge, but to be perfectly honest those top five look and sound a step ahead of the rest. Quote
RenMacnary Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 McNeil...incredibly hard show musically, no drumline marching and ensemble coordination issues. I REALLY love their show, they're just having trouble keeping it together. Love the concept and the marching. Just having ensemble issues between the front line and the marching ensemble. Boy are they working hard....just a great challenging show. It's coming together, the contrast between Vista Ridge Festival and last Thursday was pretty dramatic! They really have some great musicians in that band! Quote

kristy Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 So proud of McNeil! Their hard work paid off. Quote
principalagent Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I'm willing to bet every placement changes *again* in finals. Quote
dylan123 Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 does anyone know actual scores or performance order? Quote
LKendrick Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 That field coverage tho. Have to say, it's pretty cool that they did the combined Dance Team/Color Guard for their show. Has anyone else done that before? Quote
bandperson1997 Posted October 11, 2015 Author Posted October 11, 2015 Did Anderson have a bad run? I am very surprised that Georgetown, lake Travis, and McNeil beat Anderson. Quote
Rubisco Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Ahhh... so it's a dance team AND a color guard. That explains so, so much to me! I watched a video of Reagan's finals performance from Conroe earlier today. It was very close up, so I could see the "guard" performing, and I was thinking, "Gosh, their movement is really advanced and well-done for a color guard in their scholastic class!" Well, now I know why! Quote

natertater21000 Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Another interesting note is that Leander was the only finalist to not have a complete show in finals. Being close to the program (alumni as of this year) they still have nearly a full minute to put on. This year just gets harder and harder to predict every week. Quote
natertater21000 Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 ah, I thought that might be the case but not knowing for sure I didn't say, thank you for the correction Quote
Captain Obvious Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Cedar Park was a solid 3rd in prelims. There was shock and disbelief and an audible audience response when they were announced 4th in finals. I haven't experienced that kind of response before. Their music performance has carried them this year, but during finals something was amiss. Reagan and Bowie have these wonderful melodic shows that make you feel good. Leander's show is very different; a little avant-garde. They have finished first and third in their two contests so far without winning any captions, basically scoring second or third across the board. I'm not sure that their musical selections, no matter how well played, will put them at the top of the music categories. Quote

I agree that Leander's show is out there but to me it's one of the most artistical show's of the year. If are you saying you don't think Leander can medal at San Antonio I disagree with you completely. Quote
