Is there something you can infer from semifinals draw? Please explain... Don't forget they are in the 22+ range, BUT hypothetically they could have the 12th best score in the competition. I don't think they beat every Thursday band, but They could beat a couple and really be at like 16. Quote
LKendrick Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 The top 11 from each day are selected, but the top 22 in the semifinals order are the top 22 regardless of day. Correct me if I'm wrong someone. Xenon 1 Quote
Xenon Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 You are correct, it is possible to be in the top 11 for your day and be outside of the top-22 block of semis and vice-versa. Quote
principalagent Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 LKendrick is right. Bowie has a score from Friday that puts them between 23rd and 30th overall. I think they'll move up into the teens today at any rate. CTJ's run sounded quite strong musically from the box. They've cleaned up a lot since BOA Austin visually as well. They're absolutely in tonight. Quote

bxOxAxUIL Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 I hope Texas can bring home the gold! #TeamTexas! Quote
dylan123 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 which Texas bands actually have a shot at a medal or the eagle? Quote
principalagent Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Leander is in the middle of the Eagle hunt right now. Mason and Carmel aren't really selling their shows right now, which gives Johnson and Reagan a chance at a medal, too. I couldn't tell you who is leading between CTJ and Reagan at the moment - they were both strong yet had issues, too. Cedar Park has a shot at the music caption tonight and might foil Leander's chance at a class sweep. Quote

principalagent Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Pending a performance at 3:30, I have 9 bands set for finals. I'm having a hard time deciding between Union, Cedar Park, Marian Catholic and Homestead (who is about to perform now) for the last three spots. I really, really want Cedar Park in, and I think their music performance will push them in. Quote
Xenon Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Cedar Park should be in with that incredible music performance. Bowie is going to have a really hard time climbing out of a next-8 performance slot and the stigma that includes. But it has been done before, notably by Broken Arrow in the late 90's. Quote
natertater21000 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Wasn't able to watch on stream so could someone say what made Leander's performance weaker than pre lims? Was it timing issues or just less energy? Quote
peinewood Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 I just watched tarpon. Gotta say, I wasn't as generally affected as I thought I would be Nny14 1 Quote
Jellyfishes Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Tarpon Springs had a questionable music performance to me. Nny14 1 Quote

dylan123 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Tarpon did not live up to the hype IMO. Quote
Nny14 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Tarpon Springs is really good, but they're definitely a step down from how they were in 2014. They play runs like nobody else, but I thought Leander was better as a ensemble. There's also a good amount of visual dirt and individual technique is questionable. Again, I though Avon and Leander were better in this department. Effect wise the show has the same frantic mood throughout which fits the theme but could definitely benefit from some variety. Quote
dylan123 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 i thought vista murrieta was pretty good/okay. show drug on a bit for me but the live stream certainly doesn't help bands out with effect so i have no idea how it was in the stadium. Quote
peinewood Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 I thought Bowie was fantastic. They may have a chance to squeeze into finals IMO Quote
Nny14 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 They have one of the best (if not THE best) colorguard in Texas. I think they had the performance they needed, and I would have them in based on performance captions, I'm just not sure what the GE judges will think of it. Hope they get another chance. Quote
Popular Post Xenon Posted November 12, 2016 Popular Post Posted November 12, 2016 The rest of these next-8 bands aren't even in the same class of performance level as Bowie other than maybe Ayala. Really screams of Thursday inflation. whitewing09, Parkwoodmom and Nny14 3 Quote
