principalagent Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 In theory, one could drive down 130 from the Pflugerville/Hutto area and take that down to I-10 and miss 35 completely. That would help the RRISD and LISD schools, but that's pretty out of the way for Westlake and Dripping Springs and Bowie tomorrow morning (since I doubt 35 will be open then). Parkwoodmom 1 Quote
Xenon Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 Cedar Park was actually stuck at a school along 130; unable to get to SA and also couldn't get back home. Quote

principalagent Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Is Cedar Park definitely going at 4:45? Quote
Bandnerd03 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I can confirm that the 130 to I-10 is a good option with little traffic. I just arrived from DFW and that's the route I took. Quote
hoops_moynihan Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Bands that weren't able to go tonight are drawing for only five spots tomorrow at random. Bands that don't get drawn are just not participating. Notable bands in this situation are Leander, Round Rock, Hendrickson, Vista, Dripping Springs, and others. Quote
natertater21000 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 again where are you getting this info, it doesn't sound at all like something BOA would do Quote

natertater21000 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 seriously though, where did you come across this 5 spot draw information Quote
hoops_moynihan Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I'm currently sitting in my band hall at Dripping Springs waiting to hear if we get a spot. Quote
hoops_moynihan Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Our director just announced the plan. Quote
Xenon Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 That is only partially true. Word from BOA staff is that they are finding Saturday spots for each of the bands that are still trying to come down. Those bands are drawing for which spot they get. No bands that want to and are able to come will be left out. Quote
LKendrick Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Per their Facebook page, James Bowie is now at 4:30pm. Quote

LKendrick Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Well in slightly more positive news..................Clements is about to take the field in Atlanta! Good luck to them. Quote
natertater21000 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 wait so bands ARE being left out? what a load of crap Quote
Rubisco Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Wait, I'm a little bit confused. Are they redrawing all of Saturday's prelims, or just creating a few new spots and drawing for those? I don't see how redrawing all of Saturday could work, especially for those bands whose schedules are based tightly around their original performance times. Quote
vincentlee1220 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 redrawing only for missing slots. I know one is 7AM and another is late in the afternoon (when an exhibition is possibly?). Not sure where the others are, probably skipping judges breaks for them. but sources seem to claim that while 7 bands couldn't make it today, only 5 are being drawn for, leaving 2 completely screwed. I personally don't like it, but, that's what we have for now. Quote
Xenon Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 I have absolute confirmation from BOA staff that ALL 7 bands have been offered slots on Saturday. Slots range from 6:45am to 4:30pm. As to whether the bands accept those slots, that is up to the band and the district. Quote
natertater21000 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 on a lighter note of the performances currently happening, it is a good thing I was wearing 2 pairs of socks cause Reagan just knocked the first pair clean off. WOW great show from them and the new ending is a very nice cherry on top of the amazing program they have made this year. Xenon 1 Quote
Rubisco Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Why 6:45? Is there a good excuse for why BOA can't just tack more times onto the end of the day? Quote
principalagent Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 My other question is: Won't the DFW bands who go early tomorrow morning face the exact same issues? Austin is expected to get at least another couple of inches of rain over night and roads are still closed. The bands who go before, say 11, will face the exact same travel issues when they try to get to Austin. Additionally, some are scheduled to come to San Antonio tonight, which obviously won't work either, as they'll be in the thick of the storm systems passing through. Parkwoodmom 1 Quote
HerpDerpman Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 It doesn't make any sense to give a band a slot that early in the morning, they would have to leave at the time of the worst weather tomorrow morning. Getting a slot at 7:00am is basically the same as getting no slot at all. Quote
