whitewing09 Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Every year we hear and see bands that do better at the beginning of a season, but who don't see tremendous growth later on. Then we have the bands whose shows have "room to grow". What are your thoughts to the bands this year? I'd think that CTJ and Leander a lot of room to grow (their shows seem very difficult and have quite a bit of cleaning left), while Reagan and CP are a lot more polished early season (I can't comment on Bowie because I haven't seen anything recent). Do you think development/show difficulty now, will affect scoring later on and change the rankings of bands? Pay mind that I've only seen videos online, so maybe I can't judge how clean Reagan and CP really are and contrast to Leander and CTJ. Quote
LKendrick Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 The Woodlands has a ton of room for growth in addition to the ones you mentioned. There are some really spectacular moments in that show that, with some late season cleanliness, will be absolutely spectacular. Parkwoodmom 1 Quote
Anthony V Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I think Keller Central will grow quite a bit this season. They have a tremendous design package, and the program just seems very bought into the idea of moving up a tier. Although I'm not sure where they'll place, I think we'll see them do very well on Saturday. Quote

What I have seen of them is pretty spectacular, I feel like they took the issues from last years Nats show and fixed them all this year. I have them pretty high on Saturday in my prediction. Quote
cc123 Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I honestly have not seen many shows this year yet, but Cy-Fair HS definitely has a lot of room to grow. They have a great show, that's very VERY difficult (especially for a band that has never had a show at this caliber before), but will be absolutely fantastic when everything is pulled off at the end of the season. They still have to clean, and possibly add more things, but really that's every band. Once everything clicks, they'll have one killer show. They're often overlooked, but I think they'll make a very big statement this year. Quote
clrk503zm Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Coming from a member of the JET Band, I do believe our band (James E. Taylor) and our rivals Seven Lakes have the room to grow. We made BOA regional finals for the first time since 2013, and that was with some minor issues too. Seven Lakes, while I have yet to hear their show, definitely is on the upward this year as well. I am excited to see how both of these schools' shows turn out in late October. Quote
bingogooberman Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 If wakeland cleans up their music they could be really dangerous. Quote
Anthony V Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Just watched Haltom's show. They are quite good. Wes Cartwright has some sort of hand in their show design, which I think is a change -- someone correct me if I'm wrong. They have a show with lots of exposed technicality and they do a fine job with it. However, the ensemble isn't quite balanced yet, with many stick - outs in the brass. Yet again on the other hand, their directors are quite competent in fixing that kind of issue. I'm curious to see where they go with this. bandmaster3000 1 Quote
bandmaster3000 Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Wes Cartwright is with Bell this year Quote
