Xenon Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 The number of bands that qualify to advance out of the Region round determine how many will advance from Area to State. An Area gets to advance 1 band to State for every 5 bands that qualify for Area. 6A Area A: 15 (Advance 3 to State) Region 1: (1 max) - 1 Region 6: (6 max) - 6 Region 16: (1 max) - 1 Region 22: (7 max) - 7 6A Area B: 25 (Advance 5 to State) Region 5: (7 max) - 7 Region 20: (10 max) - 5 Region 24: (3 max) - 3 Region 30: (6 max) - 5 Region 31: (5 max) - 5 6A Area C: 26 (Advance 5 to State) Region 2: (6 max) - 6 Region 3: (13 max) - 12 Region 21: (4 max) - 3 Region 25: (6 max) - 5 6A Area D: 28 (Advance 5 to State) Region 8: (7 max) - 5 Region 12: (11 max) - 10 Region 18: (6 max) - 6 Region 26: (8 max) - 7 6A Area E: 40 (Advance 8 to State) Region 13: (9 max) - 7 Region 17: (9 max) - 9 Region 23: (14 max) - 12 Region 27: (15 max) - 12 6A Area F: 29 (Advance 5 to State) Region 9: (9 max) - 9 Region 10: (1 max) - 1 Region 19: (12 max) - 7 Region 33: (13 max) - 12 6A Area G: 24 (Advance 4 to State) Region 14: (4 max) - 4 Region 15: (14 max) - 12 Region 28: (8 max) - 8 6A Area H: 24 (Advance 4 to State) Region 11: (9 max) - 9 Region 29: (10 max) - 10 Region 32: (5 max) - 5 Quote

Xenon Posted October 16, 2016 Author Posted October 16, 2016 I've updated with all of the results from October 15th contests. Area B is in very serious trouble. Every single remaining band has to get a 1 in order to advance 5 to State. If even a single remaining band gets a 2 or lower then Area B only takes 4 to State. From a ridiculous list of attendees that I can't only pick 4 from. Quote
SamuelCulper Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Region 29 went 10 for 10? Woo-hoo! I am pretty sure 32 will go 5 for 5, so we just have to have 5 for 9 from Region 11. Quote

Anthony V Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Anyone know what the cost for a ticket generally is? Quote
Samuel Culper Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 $5, I believe, is standard for Region and Area. Quote

Three of those bands regularly make 2's and a couple make 1's on and off, so it is highly likely that Area D will only have 5 bands advancing to state. I can see 8 of those bands being in contention for those 5 spots - CTJ, Reagan, Anderson, Bowie, Cedar Ridge, Hendrickson, Round Rock, and Westwood. Quote

I was using the realignment site and they had it at 7 until a couple of days ago. They had Ann Richards SFYWL listed as a 6A. Not the first mistake I've seen there. But, like I said, it isn't likely that Area D will have 6 bands advancing. Quote
Xenon Posted October 19, 2016 Author Posted October 19, 2016 All 7 6A Region 5 bands got 1's!!!!!!!!! Congratulations and thank you for all the hard work, especially to all the groups that made 2's last year, that's an awesome accomplishment! Now all Area B needs is for the 3 Plano schools to get 1's on Saturday and Area B will advance 5 bands to State. Quote
PSHSMom Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 I am pretty sure Plano East and Plano Senior will get 1's but not sure about West as I haven't seen their show. Hopefully it will all be good! Quote

LKendrick Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Area A 6A went 15/15. Will advance 3 bands to state. 4A is currently at 16 bands, with 4 that still have to go. All 4 got 1s last year so 4 4As could potentially advance. Quote

Thought 'morning' was a typo...nope, must've missed that. Something just seems inherently wrong with a morning finals block...but maybe that's just the nostalgia tied to warming up in the dome parking lot after sunset with adrenaline still pumping from finalist announcements. Understand what they're trying to do, just seems like an odd experience. Quote
Mash Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 I am not trying to be rude, In my limited years as a band parent, I have only seen bands get 1's at Region. What is the difference between a band getting a 1 and a band getting a 2? Quote
