natertater21000 Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Best run I've ever seen from Leander, and I'm being SUPER nitpicky Quote
LKendrick Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Flower Mound and Leander are still my firm 1 and 2. Leander is peaking at the right time, there is still enough there to focus on before Grand Nationals but this show is about ready. Quote
northtexasbandfan Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Leander can medal at Grand Nats. Absolutely. Quote
thebashful15 Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 In all seriousness (saw this on social media), but why have TWHS drum majors historically been females? Nothing against those decisions, but I wondered if anyone knew. Quote

band78254 Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Any thoughts of a moving Grand National, the move each year is to one of the locations of BOA Super Regional? I think this not only would continue to grow "Music For All and BOA's", but you may see many more bands make the trip to GA and San Antonio when the GN come. Would they ever be open to this? Quote
littlejaw Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 To those speculating finals performance times were based on prelims results. Has it changed in the last 8-10 years? When I was in high school we got like 7th and performed last in finals (something close to that). Quote
crossblue82 Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Medal? They can win the Eagle. Tell me one band you know for sure would be ahead of them? I don't mean that in a snarky way, just a way of saying they have as good of a chance if not better than any of the other bands...I'm a homer but if they finish a strong second here with a good cushion between them and any other Texas band I would almost think they WOULD. They can beat Tarpon, Avon, Carmel, Mason. Absolutely. Quote
NTXBandFan Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 FloMo is still my favorite, but I think Leander is as good a contender as any to give them a run for their money. Really good GE for both. And yes I think Leander has a shot at Grand Nats TrumpetorHorn 1 Quote

This is mentioned every year. It sounds nice in thought, but really there is no better place to have a marching band Grand National Championship than Indy right now. There are very few locations who have the combination of accommodations that Indy has. There are few other large stadiums who have the acoustic qualities that the Drum has. I would love to see Grand Nats in Dallas, but there isn't a combination of facilities that could handle it. Plus the acoustics in Jerry World are HORRIBLE. Xenon 1 Quote

This has been talked about many times. San Antonio isn't really set up very well logistically to handle that many bands, requiring a lot of practice space over several days. Quote

Anthony V Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 I'm blown away by the fact that by 10th place we're already starting to get into the upper echelon of bands... Quote

LKendrick Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Flower Mound did what I thought they would, impressive win for sure. The Woodlands...shocker of the day. I loved the show design. Redemption from area for sure. Grand Nationals Attendees: Leander Claudia Taylor Johnson Ronald Reagan Cedar Park Johnson and Leander far exceeded expectations. First 2 out: - Cedar Ridge - LD Bell Andresh53 and FloMoParent 2 Quote
thebashful15 Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Recaps are already posted. Wow. Cedar Ridge was just outside of finals. LD Bell was in the same situation too. Quote
thebashful15 Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Oh, I didn't notice LKendrick's post. Quote
principalagent Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Although scores themselves don't necessarily show it, Leander is absolutely in the conversation for a medal next week. Their finals performance was way, way on. I think they'll continue to lead the Texas contingent through next weekend. Anthony V 1 Quote

Shadow Weaver Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Strangely, I felt as though I didn't agree so much with the placements of the finals panel of judges. I'm willing to bet that placements for the bands at BOA SA going to State will be markedly different for some groups. Quote
