jmfeldman Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I realize they're not on the same day, but they're close, so I was wondering if this will affect any bands from going to the UIL State competition. Quote
principalagent Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Only Johnson is missing state. James Bowie, Leander, and Ronald Reagan will all attend, should they advance (and they should all advance). Quote
takigan Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Wasn't there a band that was forced to pick between State and BOA San Antonio a few years back, and they ended up going with the latter? I want to say it was SFA... Quote
buzz93 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 In 2012, James Bowie choose to skip BOA SA and attend UIL State and BOA Grand Nationals. Quote

Popular Post jarrettlipman Posted October 26, 2016 Popular Post Posted October 26, 2016 Hi Yes -- Claudia Taylor Johnson is only planning to participate in prelims for area. We have been talking to Dr. Kent over the last few weeks about the best way to proceed without potentially affecting other schools and it seems that was the best compromise. We began planning our nationals trip during the fall of 2014 knowing it would be a state year but not fully prepared for the decision to split state into two days, which we think is awesome ... but makes for an even longer week for our band members and the potential for up to four days of missed classss for them. We also want our truck and equipment to have ample time to travel / drive and with the potential for weather that time of year we really want our vehicles to leave Tuesday night and not mid day weds. We love us some band ... but want our band members fully rested and charged for Indy. We don't go very often and want the trip to be very special and have them fresh for it. We will be staying to watch area finals and cheer on the other groups and for future will not plan to do nationals on a state year again. We are appreciative of Dr. Kent's understanding and support and are excited for the weeks ahead! #teamTexas will be strong at nationals Jarrett Lipman Hard Core Band Fan, principalagent, MurfTurf and 11 others 14 Quote
Popular Post Jackson1 Posted October 27, 2016 Popular Post Posted October 27, 2016 Good luck to you and Team Texas at Grand Nats. The Eagle has been away from Texas for to long. Hopefully it will fly back this year. Go Team Texas!! Parkwoodmom, FloMoParent and whitewing09 3 Quote
Popular Post LHSax Posted October 27, 2016 Popular Post Posted October 27, 2016 Don't think I've ever seen a director post on here during my almost 10 years (yikes) on this board...Pretty cool! FloMoParent, TrumpetorHorn and CTJBandPops 3 Quote
takigan Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 A lot of them do have profiles on here, they just don't post (at least not using their actual identities), though I'm pretty sure I have seen a couple....We've had more designers/composers post than directors though. Daniel Montoya Jr. lurks here and posts once in a blue moon. John Mackey has posted 4 times (last time was in 2009).We do usually get a few emails from directors each year around this time....mostly dealing with kids misrepresenting their programs ("X BAND SUUUUUUUXXXXX" etc. etc. ugh etc.).
