Astros Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Same judge had the Woodlands in 17th. Doctor my eyes. Quote
jmartin1056 Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 To my knowledge this is round rocks first time. Really happy for them. They made it 2010 Quote

Nny14 Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 In 2010 Round Rock made state, but there were 17th in prelims. Did not make finals. Quote
snares Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Keep in mind that in 2014, Flomo took 3rd in prelims and 9th in finals, Hebron took fourth in prelims with an early time and 2nd (VERY close to first) in finals. People blow my opinions off when they see that I think performance time affects placement. How do you think Cy-Fair feels right now? Do you really think they would still have taken 20th if they performed last? I promise that my opinions have some backing to them. I know flomo is incredible and has a darn good shot at taking it tomorrow, but don't say they're a lock to win state. That's far from the truth. Quote
justabandkid94 Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 haha, I got a little excited when the results got posted. I think I just made the comment unsubstantiated in the moment. You're right. The volatility of placements in this contest is through the roof every cycle. I'll sit down snares 1 Quote
Pepekekk Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 I don't understand judge 1 giving twhs 17... Quote
snares Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 It's not really that, just more of the fact that it bothers me that people look at the scores and just come to conclusions without watching the bands. I personally want Marcus to win it the most but it's looking like that might be a long shot Quote
natertater21000 Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 I just find uil incredibly inconsistent after places 1-3. It's always just a crap show from at least one judge. Unpopular opinion I know, but I will never agree with saying uil and BOA judging systems are equal in consistency or proper overall placements. TrumpetorHorn 1 Quote
Jelonfish Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Wooh. Flower mound , Hebron , KELLER and ld bell. Love all 4 programs Bltmom 1 Quote

Marcato Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 To my knowledge this is round rocks first time. Really happy for them. Round Rock won State in 1979, and they also made it a few times in the 80's Xenon 1 Quote
principalagent Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Round Rock made state finals way back in the day in the 80s a few times. But this is the first time in most of our lifetimes, and a deserved advancement indeed! Edit: Beaten again! Quote
Statebound Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Really happy to see LDBell back in finals and the biggest surprise for me was Keller in 5th not far behind Vandegrift. Looks like that trip to Grand Nats last year gave that program a boost. Tough break for Hebron and Marcus drawing early in Finals with FloMo drawing late. Really hoping they would all draw in the same group. The finals placements are such that the medalists could be a serious toss up along with FloMo. TheIndianTrumpeteer 1 Quote
ecortez23 Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 The judging was so different between each judge. 1 gave Duncanville10 and another 29. I'm in shock we didn't make it to finals. I guess I'll try to sell the finals tickets. Quote
Statebound Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 BTW--Really glad that they found those North Shore drum majors Quote
Bltmom Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Way to go Keller! You have come a long way and have a great show! The music is phenomenal and the flip at the end with no hands is spectacular! Quote

Duncanville deserves to be in finals, and it really upsets me that they're packing their bags this early. Quote

Duncanville deserves to be in finals, and it really upsets me that they're packing their bags this early. My only problem with Duncanville is the show reads very one note. But the kids play really well and march some really clean drill. Their shows are never hard but they do them well and they are enjoyable. Hard to think they didn't get 12th. Quote

Astros Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Long long way 20th to 12th. I don't think performance time hurt CyFair. Just go back and watch CyFair performance verses the band that performed after them Hebron. Nannsee 1 Quote
Mash Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Gotta feel good for Bell to redeem themselves like that. My heart goes out to my friends in and from vista ridge. Loved the show. Well, they played their heart out. They left everything on the field, the seniors like my daughter, played in three state finals. No shame in any of that. I am proud of them, they poured everything into the show. I see great things coming from them in the future. They major change of band directors this year, the new team will have their own show next year. They worked as hard as any band and should hold their heads high. Best of luck to the finalists tomorrow, all these kids impress me. Quote
Hard Core Band Fan Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Any history buffs know the last time Round Rock made state finals? Couldn't be happier for that program right now. The last time they made the state finals was 1985. They were 2nd. 1985 Finals 1 MacArthur HS, San Antonio 2 Round Rock HS, Round Rock 3 Permian HS, Odessa 4 Marshall HS, San Antonio 5 West Orange-Stark, Orange Nny14 1 Quote

followingCult Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Can't help but feel for the Kids at Cedar Ridge 15th at BOA SA one away from finals 13th at State one away from finals but congrats to them on a great season Astros and tennelle 2 Quote
