Post BOA San Antonio 2016

Since BOA San Antonio is over with...what are your opinions about the bands? 

 

I'll start off first, thought L. D. Bell had a great run performance but not making finals surely surprised me

My opinion is that Texas has the best and most competitive band scene in the entire world. While places like IN and FL may have a few very good bands if you were to take say the top 25 from BOA SA they would be a finalist at any of the other super regionals in the country. It ain't bragging if you can back it up and Texas bands can back it up.

I was very surprised to see Bell at 16th. Their performance was incredibly strong.

Forget top 25, I think top 30 or more could make finals at any other regional. Definitely thought Keller Central (Great this year), Pearland, Aledo, Westwood (whom did last year), Anderson could make it. Also thought Madison's marching was superb at BOA SA (granted I was watching on wacky livestream).

I follow the Japanese band scene pretty closely and would have to disagree with this.  Still.....in North America, and really the entire western hemisphere, Texas is where it's at for scholastic competitive marching bands.

I'm proud that our band finished 20th when I look what was above and below us. I didn't see anything bad at all. I will say that I think most of the A and AA bands work very hard to go and know they won't likely make finals. I guess just going to BOA SA is a win for most. Amazing shows all around.

I had the pleasure of watching y'all at HEB marching contest. I know it was early in October, but nevertheless a great production. Congrats to the kids on a good season!
