2017 Grand Nationals

Why not? Flower Mound has told its students and parents that it will attend in 2017. Anyone else confirmed (or even rumored)?

Can probably count on The Woodlands, have gone ever odd year since 2007.

 

Will Marcus go where Flower Mound is? I know there was supposed to be a 4 year cycle of the LISD schools but the 6A state schedule might have thrown a wrench in even years. On that cycle it'd be Marcus's turn as well.

 

I've heard rumblings of two schools not listed, but I'm not big on spreading rumors.

Could you imagine a gnats with flower mound, Marcus, and Hebron? Highly unlikely event, but it's stuff that band nerd dreams are made of.

Fairly certain both Flower Mound and Marcus will attend next year, due to the new state schedule. I would imagine we won't see many more bands opting to attend nationals on a state year due to the amount of consecutive days students would be out of class. Woodlands and Round Rock seem like sure things as well.

How do the Texas bands typically get all their gear and students to Indy? Do they fly the students and drive the trailer there? Or does everyone stay with the trailer and go by bus?

I spoke with a Marcus parent at BOASA and she told me they are going to GN next year.  Flower Mound is confirmed to go as well.  Can't wait!!!!!

Flower Mound bussed the kids up in 2014, and of course they tucked the equipment too.

 

If I remember correctly, I think Round Rock flew their kids up last year.

I know The Woodlands flew last year and Leander and CP flew this year.

Actually, Cedar Park drove this year as well as the last time they went in 2010.

I think Keller and Keller Central are going back next year. Pretty sure they're on every-other year rotation.

After U.I.L. 6A Finals, I talked to a Keller student and they told me that they are going every three years. This might change, but it's something to consider.

I bet most 6As will attend on non state years now, I believe the change to a Wednesday morning finals came well after most bands had planned the trip. If they had known about that I bet most would have waited another year.

One thing to keep in mind is that Grand Nationals most of the time is not the weekend immediately after UIL State. Most of the time there has been a week between the two, but this year, State was a week later than normal because the first Monday of November was the 7th, causing it to be the latest date State could possibly be.

I'm sure there will be several bands that go, most likely haven't and won't announce for a little bit though

I can't help but wonder if this might also be a contributing factor to the less than stellar performance of #teamtexas this year.
