Magma31651 Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Well I know it's early, but I just couldn't stop myself from thinking about it. So I want to hear your thoughts. Nny14 1 Quote
jcbg Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Cy-Fair had a great season that (possibly) got derailed by going first and right before Hebron. I would look for them to improve even more this year. ChristopherRoden 1 Quote
pvhn Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 So the list just came out for all boa events. Wow, not only is San Antonio going to be intense ( not like it's never) with Avon this year coming down, but Grand Nationals is going to be a battle field with Broken Arrow returning, Avon attending, and Marcus, Flowermound, and The Woodlands making the trip up this year. What are your opinions on how this year may play out? Also alongside Marcus and Flowermound, we have The Woodlands Hs Round Rock Hs Prosper Hs Winston Churchhill Hs KGLKillough 1 Quote
jevvell Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 A SMBC contender in 2017 could be Mansfield Summit. Coming off of a great year and placing in the top 4 of each contest they attended, including the TOC in Carrollton, Summit is sure to have an even more stunning run this upcoming state year. Quote

They're definitely on my radar for 5A state, they sounded pretty fantastic last year. I think Prosper's improvement from 2015 to 2016 was pretty drastic, and they're signed up for Grand Nationals. I'm sure they'll be no slouch. Rouse as mentioned in another thread, they were great last year. My big one is Richland, HUGE improvement last year from their last few shows. I think they're a serious contender for a medal at 5A state. Which one? We will see. KGLKillough, txbandslover123 and jevvell 3 Quote
Guest Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 Hoping to see some movement from New Braunfels HS. Last year was a HUGE step up from past years. Quote
Guest Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 All clements needs is a visual design best suited for their program. Once that happens they'll be golden. Quote
Guest Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Keller central had a brilliant show this past season. They are getting up there fast Quote
Guest Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Don't count out james bowie. Ik they had somewhat of a rough season last year, but it's important to note they had most of their directors come in very last minute. Give them time, and we could see a re emergence. Quote

zvchy Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 I know this may come as a surprise to pretty much all of you reading this, but don't leave Hutto out of the mix. In 2013, Hutto placed 19 of 21 at Area, 2015 they were 13 of 25. That's already a huge improvement. Believe me, as I am a part of the program, we have grown immense amounts since 2015. Our band program is the 3rd largest, including 6A schools, in central Texas, we have finally gotten a good drill writer (The guy who writes for Crossmen and has written for CP and others), we are cutting down the drill, our show concept is quite cool in my opinion, and our staff and leadership team are ready to get us there. Yes I may sound crazy, as you may be thinking "oh it's just Hutto. They've never even made Area Finals or done anything notable", but just mark my words, we're here to make moves this year. By the way, I don't mean to come off as rude at all, I guess it can just be quite frustrating at times when we are widely overlooked, yet we have improved so much recently. The schools around us are amazing beyond belief, and we are doing everything we can to be included in that discussion, NTxBandMom8 1 Quote
takigan Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Hutto's also in a high-growth area. They could become an Area finalist in the near future as the community changes and new talent move into the area. Quote
jmatthews Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 I want to see improvement from these Houston-area bands: Cy-Fair, Friendswood, North Shore, and Stephen F Austin. All of them I feel like can take steps toward getting to the next level. Houston bands to me can generally be inconsistent from year to year, so I'll be interested to see how these four bands do this season. Quote
meursault Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Loved Cy-Fair's show last year, and North Shore has been making some really great strides in the past few years! SFA too- definitely looking forward to everything they put out. Quote
whitewing09 Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Apparently Lockhart just got Kenneth Vise who was just at New Braunfels. I'm assuming they will see some growth. Quote
Guest Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 Spring looks to be improving steadily year over year. in 2015 they were 15th at Conroe, yet they managed to jump to 1st at area F the next year overtaking the Woodlands. Quote

I'm not sure how I felt about the Area F placements, having been there myself. For what it's worth, TWHS was 6th in state prelims a week and a half later and Spring was in the 30s. Quote
jps.eventing Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Dripping Springs got a fourth director this year and I'm extremely excited to see what our new director can offer our band.... She was drum major for Cedar Park for years, and for Crossmen too! so excited for this upcoming season...I hope this show can help us finally get up into the top bands... Quote
