TWHSParent
Good luck! I remember being vastly impressed with one of the small bands last year at San Antonio. Seems like they were a class A band from Alabama?? Anyway, they were fantastic and everyone enjoyed their show. Hope to see you guys! That was St. James School (yes, from Alabama). Very fun program. snares
FloMo wins prelims winnin GE, Avon takes Visual, Hebron Music. Avon second Hebron/CTJ third. In FINALS, Hebron/Flomo wins, Hebron again wins Music, FloMo again wins GE, Avon/Hebron go for visual, FloMo will be up there too. I see this as a race for GE between Avon CTJ and FloMo, I think for Hebron it’s important to be right up there in the Visual aspect of things, if they can win the caption like they proved they can, it’s their competition to lose. But it’ll be very very hard to beat Avon considering the design and execution they always put on the field.
Marching Observer
Avon will need to really clean up from what their prelim performance was yesterday though if they want to take visual though. I'm sure they will but a clean show should almost always beat a difficult but dirty show. And if there is something Texas is great at, it's being pretty darn clean at SA. Hmmm I think CTJ 2014 would like to have a word with you as well as FloMo, Reagan, and CTJ 2015. It seems like, SA is a really hard contest to read. There is a real balancing of GE, difficulty, and execution that happens at this contest. Last year for example, CTJ stayed within a point of Hebron and Marcus in prelims and then ended up beating them in finals. The latter were definitely geared for UIL with very high execution. CTJ, on the other hand, had one of the most ambitious shows that wasn't executed at a level that we're accustomed to seeing from them. Marching Observer
I typically speak in generalities rather than absolutes. Those shows were certainly ambitious. It takes time (in terms of years) for a staff to really learn how to effectively clean shows of that depth. Not going to be able to do that right away in most cases. If they maintain those difficult designs, they'll eventually get there. There is definitely a balancing act for many groups of trying to fit the model of both UIL and BOA. BrendanBand001
CTJ, Reagan, or a LeanderISD school would be satisfying.
MadisonBandMan1
Yeah as of right now I definitely see flomo and hebron ahead of Avon here this year. I also see CTJ likely passing Avon as well.

Edit: I checked, and I didn't do that on the mfa site, but I did post on both sites because not every txbands member has a mfa account or pays attention, and not every mfa member has a txbands account or pays attention. TWHSParent
Looks like it went to the 14 finalist format in 2003, so that would be a Super Regional. With that you would add Westfield in 2003 and Reagan in 2004 as winners. Xenon
PSHSMom
Does anyone have any insight why the schedule isn't out yet? Less than two weeks away! I know some bands know their time but I don't have any insider info anymore! TopSecretRamen

I know some bands know their time but I don't have any insider info anymore! I would guess that it may very well come out either tomorrow or Tuesday when the offices reopen. They were just preparing for two super regionals in the same weekend after all! Can't be much longer now.
LeanderMomma
Okay, I just need to rant a little about Ticketmaster and the exorbitant fees they tack on to the tickets for finals in the Alamodome! I was all set to pay the $29 each for a reserved ticket, and then when I go to "check out" the price TRULY nearly doubled by the time they added all of their processing fees, service fees, and that stupid Alamodome fee that drives me crazy. I couldn't make myself hit the "purchase" button after seeing all of those fees! I hate to wait and buy the tickets cheaper at the window because I will end up in the nosebleed section in the endzone, but those FEES!!! TWHSParent
Don't you have to pay the Alamodome fee at the window too? Completely agree about fees. A $29 ticket magically becomes $52...
LeanderMomma
Don't you have to pay the Alamodome fee at the window too? Yes, but not all those extra ticket master fees. I think I'll just buy a $69 super ticket for me and my 2 girls at the window, and both of their college IDs will save me $10. Plus the dome fee will only be charged once per Super ticket. Our finals seats may suck but it's a chance I'll have to take. I can't justify spending $50 x 3 simply for finals tickets alone!
