Rubisco Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 Stunning performance from Avon. Absolutely stunning. What a visual program. And that guard. Holy cow! I don't see this out of the top 3. Quote
MadisonBandMan1 Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 Nice showing Avon. Sorry to say I don't see them top 5 today. Texas is just too good. The voice-overs were WAY too loud and happened WAY too often too for me. Sorry. KinDallas 1 Quote
Nny14 Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 Maybe I'm just a positive sap, but everyone seems to be having better performances in finals! It's great to watch. Quote
pokemonman12389 Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 Can anyone please livestream the rest of the performances on Periscope or Facebook? Help a fellow band nerd out Quote
inmysights31 Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 Does anyone feel like it is insane that pretty much every finalist group's music book is of a DCI caliber? They still have some work to do in the marching department but holy crap this is indescribable. I mean the conclusion to Hebron's opener sounds drumcorps esque! Bandnerd03 1 Quote

Rubisco Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 Another fantastic performance from Vandegrift. Easy to see why they were in the top 3. Visual program lacks a bit of clarity in parts, but man, that music. I love the silent fake-out before Ode to Joy. Thorton_O_Fondel 1 Quote
Rubisco Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 What a strong finish! CTJ is definitely a crowd-pleaser. They just blow your face off. Obviously, Hallelujah is the highlight, but I'm going to have Aquarelo do Brasil stuck in my head again for the rest of the week. CTJ performs such a difficult visual program for a Texas band. Unfortunately, as a result, there was quite a lot of dirt that will probably keep them from winning this event, but we'll see. Xenon and CTJBandPops 2 Quote
Rubisco Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 My personal favorites were Hebron and Avon. But obviously I can see why somebody would prefer CTJ or Vandegrift or Flower Mound. jmartin1056 1 Quote

While most of these groups are giving their all for the last performance of the season, Avon and FloMo have another week to go. Both are aiming to peak next weekend. I think both will be absolutely fine by grand Nats. Regardless of placements. Quote

Rubisco Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 I'm going to retire for the evening. I don't really have the patience right now to make it through the retreat. I'll see the aftermath tomorrow. Great job, everyone! justabandkid94 and Parkwoodmom 2 Quote

WILKINSON Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 I cannot find my jaw after tonight’s performances. If you weren’t here in person to witness these program’s phenomenal performances, let me just say...I’ll send out a prayer for you tonight. 1. Claudia Taylor Johnson H.S., TX 2. Hebron H.S., TX 3. Vandegrift H.S., TX 4. Flower Mound H.S., TX 5. Avon H.S., IN 6. Marcus H.S., TX 8. Leander H.S., TX 9. Ronald Reagan H.S., TX 10. Cedar Park H.S., TX 11. Keller H.S., TX 12. The Woodlands H.S., TX 13. Hendrickson H.S., TX 14. James Bowie H.S., TX 15. Cedar Ridge H.S., TX Outstanding Music Performance: Claudia Taylor Johnson Outstanding Visual Performance: Avon Outstanding General Effect: Flower Mound Notes: Hebron or Vandegrift could easily take the music caption. I feel like Claudia Taylor Johnson could also snatch the Visual caption from Avon. As for General Effect, could go to either Claudia Taylor Johnson, Hebron, or Avon. I am conflicted. This is insane. justabandkid94 Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 Omg. I'm dead. They did it. Wow. Congratulations to Jarrett and everyone down at CTJ for a stunning show. They are never afraid to put beasts onto the field year in and out. So cool to see them get rewarded for it. Bravo. I have chills Quote
